Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Data Platform to lead the design, development, and evolution of our enterprise-scale data platform. This role requires a strong hands-on technical background combined with proven leadership experience to drive data strategy, scalability, security, and business alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the data platform vision, roadmap, and technical strategy aligned with business objectives
• Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing data and backend engineering teams
• Architect and review high-level (HLD) and low-level designs (LLD) for scalable, resilient systems
• Drive adoption of best practices in distributed systems, data processing, and cloud-native architectures
• Oversee implementation of data governance, security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2, etc.)
• Collaborate closely with product, business, and leadership stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, cost optimization, and operational excellence
• Champion DevOps, automation, and observability across the data platform ecosystem

Required Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of experience in software and/or data engineering
• 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership or managerial roles
• Strong backend development expertise in Java, PHP, Python, Node.js, GoLang, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Scala for data processing and analytics
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their data services
• Solid foundation in HLD, LLD, and design patterns (Spring Boot or Google Guice preferred)
• Hands-on experience with big data and distributed systems : Spark, Hadoop, Kafka
• Experience with data warehousing technologies : Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery
• Deep knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards
• Experience with NoSQL databases : Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB, TiDB
• Familiarity with DevOps and automation tools : Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Chef, Grafana, ELK
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have

• Experience building large-scale data platforms in high-growth or product-based environments
• Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures
• Strong understanding of cost optimization and performance tuning for data systems
