Job Description

Head Human Resources & Industrial Relations


Location: Corporate Office / Plant Operations

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Role Purpose

The Head HR will be responsible for driving the people strategy of Super Smelters Limited by building a performance-driven, compliant, and engaged workforce across corporate, plant, and sales locations. The role combines strategic HR leadership with strong on-ground execution in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Strategy & Leadership

  • Design and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals, expansion plans, and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Act as a strategic partner to leadership on workforce planning, succession, and organisational design.


2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee recruitment for plant, technical, commercial, and corporate roles.
  • Build strong talent pipelines for critical roles in steel manufacturing, ferro alloys, mining, and sales.


3. Performance Management

  • Drive goal-setting, appraisal cycles, KPIs, and productivity metrics.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.


4. Industrial Relations & Compliance

  • Manage industrial relations at plant locations, including unions (if applicable).
  • Ensure full compliance with labour laws, factories act, contract labour regulations, POSH, and statutory filings.


5. Learning, Development & Capability Building

  • Identify skill gaps and implement training programs for safety, leadership, technical, and behavioural competencies.
  • Support leadership development and second-line readiness.


6. Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Strengthen employee engagement, communication, and retention initiatives.
  • Address grievances proactively and ensure a healthy work environment.


7. Compensation, Payroll & HR Operations

  • Oversee compensation structures, payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
  • Ensure smooth HR operations across locations with strong systems and controls.


8. Change Management

  • Support organisational change during expansion, restructuring, digital transformation, or policy shifts.
Desired Profile
  • Education: MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent
  • Experience : 20 + years of HR experience, preferably in steel, metals, manufacturing, or heavy industry
  • Industry : Steel, Cement, Fertilizer, Chemical
  • Salary Range: 40 50 LPA
