Job Description
Role Purpose
The Head HSE will lead and manage all Health, Safety & Environment
functions for the Data Center Project in Mumbai. The role is responsible for
establishing, implementing, and monitoring robust HSE systems aligned with
international best practices, client standards, statutory regulations, and the firms
global safety framework.
The incumbent will ensure a zero-harm culture across all phases of design,
construction, commissioning, and handover of the hyperscale data center
project.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the overall HSE strategy for the project in
- alignment with the company and client safety standards.
- Drive a proactive safety culture across all contractors, subcontractors, and
- stakeholders.
- Act as the primary HSE representative to the client and senior leadership
- team.
- Lead HSE planning during pre-construction and execution phases.
2. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements (Factories Act,
- Building & Other Construction Workers Act, Maharashtra state regulations,
- etc.).
- Implement international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Conduct periodic audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Oversee preparation and approval of HSE plans, risk assessments, and
- method statements.
3. Risk Management
- Identify high-risk construction activities including:
Heavy lifting operations
Work at height
Electrical & MEP installations
Confined space entry
Fire & life safety systems
- Lead hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies.
- Review and approve contractor HSE risk assessments and safety
- documentation.
4. Incident Management
- Establish robust incident reporting and investigation procedures.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions.
- Track safety KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
- 5. Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Interface with client, design consultants, EPC contractors, and authorities.
- Conduct regular HSE review meetings with contractors.
- Monitor contractor HSE performance and enforce corrective actions.
6. Training & Awareness
- Implement safety induction and training programs.
- Promote behavioural safety programs and safety campaigns.
- Ensure competency development of site HSE teams.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare monthly HSE performance reports for senior leadership.
- Maintain documentation related to audits, inspections, and statutory
- compliance.
- Support ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering / Environmental Science / Occupational
- Health & Safety.
- NEBOSH International Diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 18 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years in leadership
- roles.
- Prior experience in large-scale infrastructure, mission-critical facilities,
- industrial or data center projects.
- Strong knowledge of Indian safety regulations and international HSE
- standards.
- Experience working with global PMCs or multinational clients preferred.
