Position Requirement Head Biomedical Engineering
We are looking for a Biomedical Head from a Multispecialty hospital background with:
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in biomedical engineering
- Strong academic credentials
- Demonstrated career stability with a minimum of 3 years in each organization
- Proven expertise in managing large-scale medical equipment lifecycle, vendor management, compliance, and team leadership

Job Purpose
To lead and manage the Biomedical Engineering function, ensuring high availability, safety, compliance, and optimal lifecycle management of all medical equipment while supporting clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Responsibilities
1. Medical Equipment Lifecycle Management
- Ensure end-to-end management of medical equipment including planning, procurement support, installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Maintain high uptime of critical equipment across OT, ICU, Cath Lab, Diagnostics, and IP areas.
2. Compliance, Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, statutory, and biomedical safety standards.
- Lead audits, inspections, and documentation related to equipment safety, calibration, and certification.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and electrical safety norms.
3. Capital Planning & Cost Optimization
- Support CAPEX planning, budgeting, and technical evaluation of new medical equipment.
- Lead vendor negotiations, AMC/CMC management, and cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality.
4. Operations & Clinical Support
- Provide 24/7 biomedical support to clinical teams ensuring minimal downtime.
- Act as a technical partner to clinicians for equipment selection, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
5. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop the biomedical engineering team.
- Ensure optimal manpower planning, performance management, and technical skill enhancement.
- Maintain team stability, discipline, and succession planning.
6. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage OEMs, vendors, and service partners with clear SLAs and performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Operations, Nursing, Purchase, Infection Control, and Quality teams.
7. Digital Systems & Documentation
- Ensure accurate asset management, maintenance records, and service logs in HIS / CMMS systems.
- Drive digital initiatives for predictive maintenance and performance tracking.

- Equipment uptime % (critical and non-critical)
- Preventive maintenance compliance
- Audit scores and zero major non-conformities
- AMC/CMC cost optimization
- Equipment downtime TAT
- Team productivity and retention
Candidate Profile Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in Biomedical Engineering within multispeciality hospitals
- Strong academic credentials
- Demonstrated career stability with minimum 3 years per organization
- Proven leadership experience managing large hospital biomedical operations
