Job Description

( / / )

Location: Bengaluru

Experience: 26 years

Bytebeam builds the hardware and software stacks that power the next generation of smart connected vehicles. At Bytebeam, youll own the full embedded journey, from schematics/PCB bring-up to CAN/SPI/UART integration and field-ready reliability. If you love turning real-world signals into shippable products, come build with us.

Were hiring a Hardware Validation Engineer to own validation for connected-vehicle / telematics-class devices and ensure theyre robust in the real world, from:

functional correctness regulatory/standard compliance reliability/warranty life abuse protection.

( )

1) Functional Validation (Bench + Vehicle)

Build and execute end-to-end functional test plans for telematics/IoT devices: power-up/down, boot stability, sensor/I/O, comms, logging, OTA readiness, and field scenarios.

Validate connectivity and behavior with backend workflows (device health signals, alerts, diagnostics, OTA/update flows) aligned to Bytebeam-like operations (monitor/update/analyze).

Create test automation where it matters (Python scripts, hardware test jigs, CAN/serial automation, log parsers, dashboards).

Own requirements-to-test traceability (RTM), DVP&R / DVPV structure, and crisp reporting.

2) Standards & Compliance Validation (AIS-140 + Relevant Automotive Standards)

Drive compliance testing for AIS-140 vehicle tracking and emergency features, including:

Emergency button behavior (one-press type, emergency clear via authorized server)

Backend/server connectivity + ability to send location messages

Location accuracy / TTFF / sensitivity and related performance tests

Plan validation against related/typical automotive expectations:

Electrical transients and protection (load dump, cranking, jump start, reverse polarity)

Note: AIS-140 references durability/electrical tests including load dump and insulation resistance checks

Track evolving ecosystem requirements (e.g., discussion of migration AIS-140 IS 16833 in industry docs).

Interface with external labs/certification agencies (ARAI/ICAT/lab partners), prepare evidence packs, and close observations.

3) Reliability, Warranty Life, Aging (Design + Production Readiness)

Create reliability validation plans and execute environmental + lifetime stress testing, such as:

Thermal cycling, thermal shock, vibration, humidity/damp heat

Corrosion/salt fog, dust/water ingress validation

Connector durability, battery backup aging, etc.

Define test-to-life correlation / warranty correlation and a reliability demonstration approach.

Lead failure investigations: reproduce, isolate, and drive corrective actions with HW/FW/mechanical/manufacturing teams (8D mindset).

4) Use-Case & Abuse-Case Protection Validation (Real World)

Validate the device survives and fails safely under:

Miswires, intermittent power, brownouts, noisy vehicle supply, partial connector insertion

ESD events, short-to-battery/ground on I/Os, antenna faults

SIM/network drops; GNSS weak-signal and jamming-like behavior

Tamper attempts (power removal, enclosure opening, harness disconnect), aligned with common AIS-140 expectations around emergency/tamper robustness

Field installation variance (different vehicles, harness lengths, grounding quality)

DVP&R / Validation Master Plan, RTM, test procedures, pass/fail criteria

Bench + vehicle test setups (fixtures, scripts, instrumentation plan)

Validation reports with clear failure analysis + corrective action tracking

Release readiness sign-off inputs (DV exit criteria, known issues, risk assessment)

-

Hands-on HW validation experience: power, comms, debug, instrumentation

Strong comfort with lab tools: oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzer; plus at least one of: CAN tools, serial tools, DAQ

Strong test thinking: coverage, corner cases, repeatability, traceability, data-driven conclusions

Ability to root-cause failures and collaborate tightly with engineering/manufacturing

-- ( )

Telematics domain: GNSS/NavIC, LTE/2G/4G behavior, vehicle power conditions, CAN/OBD/UDS familiarity

Exposure to compliance/reliability roles requiring test planning, execution coordination, and report prep

Lab automation (Python), manufacturing test support, ESS/HALT concepts, supplier validation
