Job Description
Our client is a 2006 established UAE Headquartered leading global Ferro Alloy Mining, Smelting, and Trusted Trading house. They have operations in Ivory Coast, Brazil, Switzerland, South Africa, and Turkey. They also have marketing and sourcing operations in China.
Role Description
Job Purpose
Overall management and strategic direction of manganese mining operations in Ivory Coast, West Africa . This includes overseeing day-to-day operations, project management, safety compliance, employee management, stakeholder relations, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve business goals and ensure the efficiency of mining operations.
- Provide leadership in driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee all aspects of manganese mining operations, including exploration, extraction, processing, and logistics.
- Ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Project Management:
- Lead current and future mining projects from planning through execution, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
- Manage project teams, resources, budgets, and timelines effectively.
- Financial Performance:
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for manganese operations.
- Identify cost-saving measures and maximize profitability.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing management team and frontline workforce.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and productivity.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, community leaders, and investors.
- Represent the company in public forums and industry events.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure accurate reporting of operational performance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments, including HR, finance, and supply chain, to ensure aligned operations.
Preferred Profile
- Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering / Geology, Business Management, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in mining operations
- First Class / Second Class Managers Certificate of Competency (Restricted) under The Metalliferous Mines Regulation.
- Strong understanding of mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale mining operations and projects in the African region.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in project management software and financial management tools.
