Job Title: General Manager Section Head (Techno-Commercial)

Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Employment Type: Contractual (Extendable based on Client Requirement)

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned techno-commercial leader to head a strategic industry vertical based in Gandhinagar. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving investment facilitation, policy alignment, and ecosystem development across high-growth sectors including Electric Vehicles (EV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Green Energy, Chemicals, Solar, and allied emerging industries.

This role requires deep engagement with Government bodies, policy-making committees, industry associations, global investors, R&D institutions and corporate leaders to position Gujarat as a preferred investment destination.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Promotion & Facilitation

• Lead end-to-end investment promotion initiatives across priority sectors.
• Engage with domestic and international investors to promote Gujarats industrial ecosystem.
• Facilitate large-scale project approvals, clearances, and coordination with relevant authorities.
• Develop sector-specific investment strategies and value propositions.

2. Policy Advocacy & Government Liaison

• Act as a key interface between State/Central Government departments and industry stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy formulation, regulatory reforms, and sector-specific policy frameworks.
• Work closely with policy committees, advisory boards, and think tanks.
• Represent the organization in high-level government and industry forums.

3. Techno-Commercial Leadership

• Evaluate techno-commercial feasibility of proposed industrial investments.
• Guide stakeholders on infrastructure readiness, regulatory pathways, and incentive structures.
• Analyze sector trends, emerging technologies, and competitive positioning.
• Provide strategic advisory inputs for high-value and complex industrial projects.

4. Strategic & Ecosystem Development

• Identify growth opportunities in EV, renewable energy, advanced chemistry cells, green hydrogen, specialty chemicals, and allied sectors.
• Develop long-term roadmaps to enhance Gujarats competitiveness in targeted industries.
• Coordinate with PSU leadership, former civil servants, and senior government committee members to strengthen ecosystem development.

Experience & Background

• 20+ years of senior leadership experience in EV, Battery Storage, Green Energy, Solar, Chemicals, or related manufacturing sectors.
• Proven exposure to policy formulation, regulatory advisory, or government interface roles.
• Experience working with Big 4 consulting firms on policy or government advisory mandates preferred.
• Prior roles such as Industry Head, Business Unit Leader, Policy Advisor, Venture Capital Leader, Ex-IAS, PSU Board Member, or Member of State/Central Government Committees will be highly advantageous.
• Former or current Heads / Senior Leadership associated with IITs, IIMs and leading R&D institutions will be preferred.
• Strong working relationships and collaboration exposure with industry associations such as FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.

Education

• Engineering degree (mandatory).
• MBA / PGDM from reputed institution preferred.
• Additional exposure to public policy, energy management, or infrastructure finance is desirable.
