GCP Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Senior GCP Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will play a key role in platform architecture, automation, DevOps practices, and cloud governance while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior GCP Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will play a key role in platform architecture, automation, DevOps practices, and cloud governance while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage GCP-based cloud infrastructure and platform services
• Build and maintain scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized GCP environments
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
• Manage Kubernetes (GKE) clusters, networking, and workload deployments
• Ensure cloud security best practices including IAM, VPC design, encryption, and compliance
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance and reliability
• Collaborate with application, security, and SRE teams to support cloud-native solutions
• Lead platform standardization, documentation, and best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud or platform engineering roles

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Expertise in core GCP services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, VPC, IAM, Load Balancing, Cloud DNS
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Proficiency in Linux system administration
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana)

Preferred Skills

• GCP certifications (Professional Cloud Architect or Professional DevOps Engineer)
• Experience with SRE principles and reliability engineering
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards
• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
• Programming/scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash)
