The Engineer 1 or Scientist 1 will typically work independently but within a team framework, to develop and support products within the Technology groups and to achieve objectives. Work is still performed within defined parameters and skills are improved upon for making work decisions, applying concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolving issues through immediate action or short-term planning. This level requires a greater knowledge and demonstration of competencies to use the tools, materials, products, and processes in the development and support of the technology.

Coordinates expertise in one or more engineering and science disciplines across the technology project portfolio, assuring rigor is applied through the design and development processes. Ensures needed personnel skills and expertise are in place across the organization for the discipline.

As a Gas Turbine – Combustion Aero & Heat Transfer Design Engineer, you will be responsible for activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems. Also, you be responsible for activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components which requires Comprehensive in-depth understanding of complex and highly technical concepts and principles in the own part of the function

You will provide technical contribution towards New Product Development. You will be an expert in gas turbine thermal and secondary flows design as well as strictly collaborate with combustion, aerodynamics

As a Gas Turbine – Combustion Aero & Heat Transfer Design Engineer, you will be responsible for: 

  • Perform Aero-Thermal studies on Gas Turbine Combustion architecture comprising of Burner, Liner, Transition piece and several other parts of Combustion system.
  • Developing 1D, 2D & 3D models for Aero-Thermal studies, using analytical calculations with inhouse and commercial tools while using the domain knowledge to make design decisions.
  • Perform Aero-Thermal model updates based on experimental outcomes and perform data validation and subsequently support the cross functional Mechanical design team to know components durability.
  • Should look out for IP opportunities within the project scope or other and prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides competitive advantage to the business
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve program and business objectives.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consisted with engineering policies and procedures

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Master’s in Mechanical, Thermal & Aerospace Engineering from reputed Institutes with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Have knowledge in Heat Transfer, Fluid dynamics & Numerical methods closely related to turbomachinery design
  • Have extensive knowledge of thermal design processes for gas turbine components.
  • Mandatory Tools required: Ansys Workbench, UG NX ; CFX ; Fluent ; Microsoft Excel ; Microsoft Power Point
  • Tools exposure: ICEM CFD ; Auto-grid ; SIMCENTER ; Flow Simulator ; Python
  • One-dimensional flow network solvers knowledge
