Role Summary Furniture Designer (CNC Engineered Wood)

The Furniture Designer will be responsible for designing modern, cost-efficient, and production-ready engineered wood furniture for the About Space brand.

This role involves:

Developing 2D/3D designs

Creating CNC-ready files (nesting, toolpaths, G-code)

Ensuring optimal board usage (84 sheets)

Supporting mass production and scalability

The designer will work closely with production, CNC, and operations teams to convert design concepts into high-volume, cost-effective furniture products.

Key Focus Areas

Design and develop furniture concepts (home, storage, dcor, modular furniture)

Prepare detailed CAD drawings & 3D models for CNC production

Optimize 84 board usage to minimize wastage

Convert designs into CNC-ready files (nesting + G-code)

Align designs with:

Modern trends

Cost efficiency

Fast delivery models

Qualifications & Skills

Education

Diploma / Degree in:

Furniture Design

Interior Design

Product Design

Mechanical Engineering

Wood Technology

ITI / Polytechnic candidates with relevant CNC/furniture design experience will also be considered.

Cabinet Vision 3D

PYTHA 3D CAD

AutoCAD

SketchUp

Fusion 360 / SolidWorks

Vectric Aspire (Preferred for CNC wood machining)

Knowledge of CNC Machining

CNC Router operations (cutting, drilling, grooving, carving)

Nesting optimization for 84 boards

Cabinet Vision workflow

G-code & toolpath generation

Experience

35 years for Senior Furniture Designer

Other Skills

Strong creativity with modern & cost-effective design thinking

Good understanding of:

Modular furniture

Hardware & fittings

Strong coordination with production & CNC teams
