Job Title: Full Stack Web Developer (PHP)

Experience- 5 to 9 Years

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Web Developer to support the design, development, and continuous enhancement of a business-critical internal web-based platform used across multiple departments.

This role requires hands-on contribution across backend and frontend development, close collaboration with internal stakeholders, and coordination with the original external development team to understand the existing architecture, maintain continuity, and drive the long-term evolution of the system.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using PHP and modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony
• Design, optimise, and maintain relational database schemas, queries, and data models
• Develop, integrate, and consume RESTful APIs to support internal systems
• Write secure, maintainable, and well-documented server-side code
• Collaborate with external original developers to understand legacy architecture and technical constraints

Frontend Development

• Build clean, semantic, and accessible user interfaces using HTML5 and CSS3
• Develop responsive, mobile-first layouts using Bootstrap components and grid system
• Implement modern JavaScript (ES6+) for interactive and high-performance user experiences
• Maintain and enhance existing jQuery-based functionality, including AJAX-driven features
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive behaviour across devices

General Responsibilities

• Support and enhance business-critical internal systems used across multiple departments
• Debug, refactor, and optimise code across the full stack to improve performance and stability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices
• Follow secure coding standards and internal compliance requirements
• Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across distributed teams

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with PHP and at least one major PHP framework (Laravel, Symfony, Zend, or similar)
• Proven experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
• Awareness of secure coding practices and data protection principles
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and semantic markup
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Hands-on experience with jQuery, including DOM manipulation and AJAX
• Experience using Bootstrap for responsive UI development
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles
• Basic knowledge of web accessibility standards
• Experience with Git or other version control systems
• Ability to work effectively within an existing and evolving codebase
• Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Good communication skills for working with distributed teams

Desirable / Nice to Have

• Experience working in a regulated financial services environment
• Experience supporting high-availability production systems
• Exposure to frontend build tools
• Knowledge of modern CSS techniques such as Flexbox, Grid, and Sass
• Familiarity with automated testing (unit, integration, or end-to-end)
• Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments
