Job Description
Job Summary
This role will be part of AI squad within the CDO office of the bank, is critical in driving AI adoption and enablement across the bank’s functions. The aim of this role is to deploy as one of the members of the functional AI Squads.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Delivering, building and maintaining the solutions to AI use cases and augmenting functionalities of AI tool of the bank.
Business
- Accelerate delivery of AI uses cases for various Business & Functions of the bank.
- Responsible for implementing product roadmaps, product improvement , for building applications with modern architecture design with RESTful web services / APIs, for building web-based application enhancements that processes huge data volumes and real-time streaming, and for product deployment with appropriate SDF controls.
- Responsible / Accountable for supporting applications in production - analyse and resolve issues as they arise and for performing impactful RCA analysis and implement solutions.
- Candidate should be a technical SME and go-to person for all technical requirements for your team.
Risk Management
- Adhere to all SDF controls and Data Governance Standards of the bank.
Governance
- Develop and implement change management plans to ensure successful adoption of AI solutions across the organization.
- Provide training and support to business users to help them understand and leverage AI tools and technologies
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by promoting the benefits of AI and encouraging experimentation.

- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. - Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key stakeholders
- CDO Squads, Business Partners, ITO, internal staff, clients and 3rd parties.
Other Responsibilities
- Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in AI squad under various Business & Functions ; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.
- Identify and prioritize AI use cases that have the potential to deliver significant business value.
- Develop business cases for AI projects, including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and ROI estimation
Skills and Experience
- Building and deploying machine learning models to detect and prevent financial crimes, achieving a measurable reduction in fraud losses for Standard Chartered.
- Implement Generative AI solutions to generate synthetic data for training, improving model accuracy by at least 15% in FinCrime and Compliance use cases.
- Mentor and guide a team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the FinCrime and Compliance domain.
- Lead a team to deliver production-ready ML pipelines within 6 months, integrating real-time transaction monitoring for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance.
- Optimize feature engineering and model tuning to increase detection rates of suspicious activities
- Roll out scalable ML systems that process millions of transactions daily, reducing false positives in compliance alerts
- Drive the adoption of advanced ML algorithms to identify sanctions evasion patterns, cutting investigation times for compliance teams.
- Deliver quarterly reports showing improvements in key FinCrime KPIs, such as alert accuracy and case resolution speed, to senior management.
- Execute A/B testing on ML-driven compliance tools, achieving a statistically significant boost in operational efficiency
- Hands-on experience with LLMs techniques (e.g., RAG, Agents, Graph RAG) to improving FinCrime detection accuracy.
- Expertise in model optimization and hyperparameter tuning to achieve high precision and recall in fraud detection and compliance applications.
- Advanced understanding of statistical methods and anomaly detection algorithms to identify suspicious patterns in financial data.
Qualifications
- Education - Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) to build and deploy production-grade machine learning models.
Training - Prefer if trained in usage and development of LLMs and proficiency in Prompt Engineering.
