Key Purpose of the Job : |
The role holder is responsible for defining and establishing manufacturing capacity for production lines in Elgi foundry. Identifying and implementing productivity, automation, manpower optimization and safety improvments proejcts are critical to the role holder. |

Educational Qualification / Experience required : |
- Engineering Degree / Diploma in Production / Mechanical / Industrial discipline |

1. Responsible for design, facilitation and implementation of existing / new manufacturing methods in production |

1. Responsible for design, facilitation and implementation of existing / new manufacturing methods in production |
Study requirement for manufacturing improvements, changes, gaps in production along with production, quality and other functions |
Prepare and provide plan on timelines, milestones and other stages including trial runs and implementation |
Design manufacturing process / process flows including production cycle time reduction, increase in automation, elimination of non value adding activities based on business priorities and requirements |
Define in detail stage wise production process for approvals from various stakeholders including alternate process flows as necessary and relevant |
Ensure rigorous trial and error testing of new process is carried out and attend to any issues, bottlenecks that arise during testing procedures |
Facilitate trial in live scenarios on shop floor along with production and quality to observe the functioning of defined process |
Provide necessary inputs to carpenters, fabricators for facilities creation as per requirements |
Design fixures and tooling for the new / existing products and processes as required by prodcution process |
Support production by providing right material handling methods |
Study process gaps / issues and provide analytics on observed process gaps, output failures / drop and failures in trial runs |
Resolve issues with process design as per defined guidelines to ensure error free implementation in production process |
Support production in migration of process, prepare guideline, SOPs, process flows, charts, illustration notes for implementation including shop floor facilities for execution |
Collaborate on process design, facilitation, implementation requirements and tasks with ME and other functions for smooth transition to new processes / changes in existing processes |
Conduct sustenance audits on implemented processes periodically to address issues / gaps, as defined and relevant |
2. Responsible for study and implementation of capacity management activities for planned and projected production requirements and business objectives |
Analyze short / long term capacity increase requirements for planning and implementing projects to address / achieve production output 1F + 2T (Firm and Tentative) production plans across various lines |
Understand production requirements and short and long term business objectives |
Measure, study, analyze output capacity in defined process for comparison and capacity planning |
Map existing capacity against projected business requirements for estimations for decrease / increase in capacity and capability for production capability for product variants |
Collate inputs / data / information from production, quality, machine building, NPPO to address production capacity requirements |
Implement projects planned on time with approved budget to achive bussiness objectives |
Coordinate with prodcution, quality, maintenance and other function for changing of layouts to improve process flow |
3. Plan, develop and implement projects to improve productivity, manpower optimization and automated manufacturing facilities, reduction in employee fatigue and improve safety |
Review established process on an ongoing basis to identify areas of improvement |
Collect inputs from the production and quality team on issues production that can be attributed to process design and flow |
Plan and define process improvement, Manufacturing cost reductions projects and conduct feasibility checks on the proposed projects, validity and investment (time and resources) |
Convert plan into daily tasks, with clear time schedules and milestones to measure progress |
Monitor progress on the plan and ensure adherence to all defined project guidelines and SLAs |
Undertake joint validation of the projects and also address rejections and quality gaps |
Review inputs received from various stakeholders on projects and incorporate feedback / suggestions for rework |
Undertake projects to increase manpower productivity by identifying opportunities for automation and addressing employee fatigue using principles of ergonomics |
Update projects stakeholders, on progress, estimated time of delivery and escalate issues / bottlenecks, as necessary |
