Role Overview

Were looking for a senior fashion stylist / style systems thinker to partner with our founders and AI team to:

  1. Create Kloths core styling language and rules.
  2. Design our personal styling playbook & profiles .
  3. Collaborate with AI engineers to build conversational, style-aware search and discovery .

This is not a pure content / lookbook role. Youll be turning your intuition as a stylist into clear, structured frameworks that machines (and humans) can use.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build Kloths Styling Nomenclature & Heuristics

  • Develop a structured, reusable vocabulary for style at Kloth: silhouettes, cuts, proportions, vibe/mood, aesthetic archetypes, occasion types, etc.
  • Create fit & style heuristics that:
  • Work across body types, sizes, genders, and age groups .
  • Are race-, skin tone-, and culture-inclusive (e.g., Indian, Western, fusion, modest fashion, etc.).
  • Are trend-aware but not trend-chasingbalance timeless essentials with current aesthetics.
  • Define rules that connect:
  • Body features flattering / empowering garment features (neckline, length, rise, drape, structure, etc.).
  • Style goals outfit formulas (e.g., soft minimal, street smart, power casual, etc.).
  • Document everything in a way that can be:
  • Used by human stylists (internal playbooks).
  • Translated into machine-readable tags, rules, and prompts by the AI team.

2. Build the Kloth Personal Styling Playbook

  • Define the Kloth personal style profile :
  • What questions we ask.
  • What signals we capture (e.g., style inspirations, comfort zones, no-go items, fit insecurities, budget, lifestyle).
  • How we represent a users style in a way that actually drives recommendations , not just a cute quiz.
  • Design user journeys for:
  • First-time onboarding into style profiles.
  • Updating style over time (weight change, life events, job changes, etc.).
  • Create playbooks and templates for:
  • If user is X body type + Y style goal + Z occasion recommend these silhouettes / fabrics / details.
  • If user hates returns / is fit-anxious how do we prioritize confidence over experimentation?
  • Work with product to ensure the playbook feels:
  • Respectful and body-positive.
  • Non-judgmental and psychologically safe for users who are insecure about size/fit.

3. Partner With AI & Product Teams

  • Collaborate with AI engineers to:
  • Turn your heuristics into scorable attributes, tags, and rules usable in models and ranking systems.
  • Design conversational flows (style chats) that feel like talking to a thoughtful stylist, not just a filter UI.
  • Stress-test outputs: review and critique early prototypes of:
  • Style-aware search results
  • Outfit suggestions
  • Because this is your style explanations
  • Help define quality bars :
  • What does a great recommendation look like?
  • What counts as a miss, and why?
  • How should the system explain itself so users build trust in it?
  • Participate in user research sessions:
  • Observe real users reactions to styling suggestions.
  • Refine rules and language based on feedback.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience as a fashion stylist, fashion influencer, personal stylist, editorial stylist, or fashion creative director , ideally with:
  • Experience working with diverse bodies, skin tones, and cultures .
  • Work spanning at least two of: e-commerce, personal styling, editorial, or content creation.
  • Strong systems thinking : you enjoy turning gut feel (this works on her, not on him) into clear, structured rules .
  • Deep familiarity with:
  • Global and regional fashion trends.
  • Everyday real world wardrobes, not just runway aesthetics.
  • Comfort collaborating with:
  • Product managers and UX designers.
  • Data / AI / engineering teams (you dont need to code, but you should enjoy structured thinking).
  • A body-positive, non-judgmental philosophy :
  • No fixing flaws.
  • Focus on helping people feel powerful, seen, and comfortable.
  • Excellent written communication:
  • You can create crisp naming systems, descriptions, and style explanations.
  • You can explain why something works in a way thats teachable and repeatable.

Engagement & Compensation

  • Type: Full-time preferred; open to Consulting / part-time role.
  • Compensation: Cash consulting fee (negotiable)
  • Location: Hybrid Bangalore based
  • Future path:
  • Option to convert to a full-time leadership role (e.g., Head of Styling / Style Intelligence Lead) based on mutual fit.
  • On conversion, we expect to offer significant ESOPs as part of the compensation package.

How to Apply

Please share:

  • Portfolio or links to past work (editorial, campaigns, personal styling clients, content, etc.).
