Job Description

Role Summary:

 

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for executing preventive and breakdown maintenance of mechanical systems to ensure optimal equipment reliability and plant performance. This role supports daily operations in alignment with safety, quality, and maintenance standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, agitators, compressors, and valves.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical components and systems as required.
  • Conduct welding, cutting, and fitting tasks in accordance with engineering specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and spare parts usage.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with operations and other departments to support smooth plant functioning.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and critical spares.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns across plant equipment.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and upgrades.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Assist in emergency maintenance and shutdown activities.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process optimization.

 

Preferred Candidate Profile:

 

  • ITI - Fitter /Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • 3 - 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a chemical or process industry.
  • Proven experience in maintaining utility equipment such as: Compressors, Boilers, Cooling Towers, HVAC systems, WTP/ETP units.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
