We sell to semiconductor manufacturing companies, including:
- Wafer fabrication plants
- Advanced packaging and assembly facilities
We work with both technical and business stakeholders across operations, quality, engineering, information technology, procurement, and finance teams.
Current company setup
- Around 50 employees
- Three legal entities: Singapore (current headquarters), the United States, and India
- Most engineering team members are in India
- Sales teams are in the United States, Singapore, and Taiwan
- Accounting, bookkeeping, and tax work is currently handled by outsourced partners in India and Singapore
- The next fundraising round may require a legal and financial move of the headquarters to the United States
What this means for the first in-house finance hire
This role is not a single-country finance operations role. It is a cross-border finance ownership role.
The first in-house finance hire must be able to:
- Run reliable day-to-day finance operations through internal coordination and outsourced partners
- Ensure monthly numbers are accurate, consistent, and audit-ready
- Support investor reporting, fundraising readiness, and due diligence
- Coordinate finance processes across Singapore, the United States, and India
- Help leadership plan for future structure changes, including a possible headquarters move to the United States

What the person will do day-to-day:
Overview
This role is the first in-house owner of finance across all entities.
The person will own finance outcomes end-to-end by combining:
- day-to-day finance operations oversight,
- financial control and reporting,
- planning and fundraising readiness.
Some execution is currently handled by outsourced partners, but this role is responsible for ensuring outputs are correct, timely, and useful for management, investors, and key external stakeholders.
Expected role emphasis (next 12 months):
Level 1: Finance operations and outsourced partner management 25%
Level 2: Financial control, monthly close, and management reporting 40%
Level 3: Planning, investor readiness, and cross-border finance projects 35%
Note: These percentages reflect role priority and evaluation emphasis, not fixed weekly time. The mix may shift during fundraising, due diligence, or major finance projects.
Level 1: Finance operations and outsourced partner management
Goal: Keep day-to-day finance operations running smoothly and ensure outsourced partners deliver on time and correctly
Responsibilities
- Manage outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, and tax partners in India and Singapore
- Ensure customer invoices are raised and sent on time
- Track customer payments and follow up on delays
- Manage vendor bills, approvals, and payment scheduling
- Oversee employee expense documentation and reimbursement records
- Maintain organised contract, invoice, and supporting finance documentation
- Track tax and compliance deadlines with external partners
- Identify when parts of finance operations should be brought in-house for efficiency and scale.
- Identify and onboard finance-related vendors (for example, accounting, payroll, and related service providers) as needed
Level 2: Financial control, monthly close, and management reporting
Goal: Ensure the companys numbers are accurate, consistent, and ready for leadership, investors, and audits.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process and timeline across entities
- Review and finalise monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash reporting)
- Ensure transactions and balances are properly documented and recorded correctly
- Build and maintain finance policies and approval controls
- Coordinate with external accountants and auditors
- Create and maintain a consistent monthly finance reporting pack for leadership
- Maintain clear metric definitions and one source of truth for finance numbers
- Support purchase request and vendor onboarding controls (as needed)
- Support annual statutory close and review key tax filings with external partners (including goods and services tax/value added tax submissions, as applicable)
Level 3: Planning, investor readiness, and cross-border finance projects
Goal: Help leadership make decisions using forward-looking numbers and prepare the company for fundraising and structural changes.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain revenue, expense, and cash forecasts
- Track monthly performance against plan and explain major changes
- Maintain cash runway tracking and scenario planning. Support cost efficiency analysis and spending optimisation across functions
- Prepare finance inputs for board and investor reporting
- Support fundraising readiness and due diligence (including data consistency, document preparation, and response coordination).
- Maintain an organised finance data room for fundraising and investor diligence
- Support customer and partner financial diligence requests by preparing concise financial summaries and required documentation
- Coordinate multi-country finance topics and intercompany documentation with external experts
- Support finance workstreams for new entity setup, potential headquarters move to the United States, and other cross-border structure changes.
What success looks like:
Finance operations run reliably without the founder's follow-up on the basics
- Monthly numbers are accurate and delivered on time
- Leadership has clear visibility on the cash runway and forecast scenarios
- Fundraising and due diligence are supported with clean, consistent finance data
- Cross-border finance risks are identified early and managed well
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Hands-on, ownership-driven finance professional
- Strong financial discipline and reporting mindset
- Startup builder mindset (practical, resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity)
- Strong cross-functional and external partner coordination
- Multi-country and fundraising support experience (preferred)
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent foundation (preferred)
