We are looking for a high-caliber Financial Controller to take full ownership of our finance function and support our rapid growth.

Role Overview

As our Financial Controller, you will be the financial backbone of AquaAirXresponsible for building strong financial processes, driving MIS and budgeting, managing compliances, preparing investor-ready reports, and enabling strategic decision-making for the leadership.

This role requires someone who is sharp, analytical, extremely reliable , and capable of managing finance end-to-end in a fast-paced deeptech startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

• Manage end-to-end accounting, month-end closing, and reconciliations
• Create and own MIS reports: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, burn rate
• Implement internal controls, approval workflows, and financial discipline

Budgeting & FP&A

• Prepare annual operating plans (AOP), budgets, and rolling forecasts
• Conduct scenario planning, runway analysis, and cost optimization
• Work with leadership to provide financial insights and business recommendations

Investor & Board Reporting

• Prepare monthly investor updates, board decks, and financial dashboards
• Maintain a clean data room and support investor due diligence

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

• Oversee GST, TDS, PF/ESI, payroll compliance, ROC filings
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
• Ensure accurate grant accounting for government-funded R&D projects

Treasury & Fund Management

• Manage cash flow, vendor payments, procurement finance
• Evaluate spending, pricing models, and contract terms

Special Projects

• Implement finance systems (Zoho Books, Tally Prime, RazorpayX Tools)
• Support fundraising with financial models, forecasts, and metrics
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, ops, and leadership teams

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

• CA Rankholder / CA Topper or exceptional performance in exams
• 24 years of experience in finance roles at VC-backed startups
• Strong grounding in accounting standards, compliance, and audit
• Experience in building MIS, budgeting, and financial models
• Ability to handle pressure, deadlines, and multi-stakeholder environments

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to deeptech / hardware / manufacturing finance
• Experience with government grant accounting (DPIIT, MeitY, DRDO, BIRAC, etc.)
• Familiarity with spend management tools, Zoho Books, and cloud-based finance systems
