Job Description
Bigtec Labs, the research and development arm of Molbio Diagnosticsa global MedTech and in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) organization focused on innovative diagnostic technologiesis looking to hire a Financial Reporting and Audit Specialist
Period Close Ownership
- Design and maintain a robust month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close calendar including cut-off dates for journals, reconciliations, provisions, and reviews.
- Drive soft-close checkpoints to ensure mid-month readiness for review and early identification of anomalies.
- Monitor close progress frequently; escalate & drive bottlenecks to the Finance Controller promptly, ensuring no slippage in key deliverables.
- Consolidate and validate intercompany reconciliation, ensuring Trial Balance integrity monthly & before submission to group consolidation teams.
- Own and manage the Close Calendar & Period-End Communication to ensure seamless flow of close instructions, status updates, and escalation alerts to relevant stakeholders.
- Track requests and confirmations received from AP, AR, Treasury, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Tax, and other finance sub-functions, ensuring close deadlines are acknowledged and met.
- Flag and escalate delayed responses from any function impacting the agreed close calendar.
Audit & Internal controls:
- Own the Prepared-by-Client tracker, ensuring each item is delivered on time, correctly tied to general ledger, and with required substantiation.
- Coordinate walkthroughs, control testing, and sample requests with respective finance sub-functions.
- Maintain a structured and signed-off audit folder for each close, with all schedules, reconciliations, and commentary fully documented.
- Ensure compliance with Ind AS for all period-end accounting treatments.
- Validate statutory-ledger reconciliations and ensure cut-off adjustments comply with legal and regulatory guidance.
- Support preparation of statutory financial statements from final trial balance, linking disclosures to close results
- Facilitate monthly Balance Sheet control reviews with function owners, validating account balances against internal policies and supporting evidence.
- Highlight stale balances, uncleared items, and misclassifications for corrective action before close finalization.
- Maintain and update a checklist-driven Balance Sheet certification process for key risk accounts such as GR/IR, advances, prepaids, and deposits.
- Responsible for conducting process walkthrough to the concerned stakeholders on need basis on Period Close Process
- Identify ERP or reporting tool enhancements to improve close quality and speed e.g., auto-reversal logic for accruals, reconciliation automation, close tracker dashboards.
- Work with IT/ERP team to implement, test, and deploy close-related system improvements.
- Promote the use of standardized close templates and automation scripts to reduce manual intervention
Accounting Transactions Duplication & Omission Controls
- Review all period-end journals (accruals, provisions, deferrals, reclassifications, reversing entries) to ensure no duplication of entries across functions or periods.
- Implement omission checks by reconciling expected vs posted journals, using prior-period patterns, budget data, and closing checklists.
- Own high-judgement adjustments, estimates such as provisions for doubtful debts, inventory obsolescence, GR/IR corrections, prepaid amortizations, and cost allocations ensuring sound supporting documentation and audit defensibility.
- Monitor suspense accounts or clearing accounts and ensure timely reclassification or clearance in the same or immediately following close period.
Master Data Management (Close-Impact Critical)
- Review & Monitor the key finance master data changes (CoA mapping, cost centers, project codes) that affect period close, to prevent reconciliation mismatches or reporting distortions.
- Coordinate with ERP admins to ensure intercompany mapping, customer/vendor master, and tax codes are correctly set up for accurate close postings.
- Maintain a log of master data changes made during a period close window for traceability
Experience & Education qualification: CA with 4 to 5 years post qualification experience
- 45 years of relevant experience in period-end close activities and preparation of financial statements under the Ind AS framework.
- Hands-on working knowledge of internal financial controls (IFC) and related documentation/testing.
- Experience in supporting statutory and internal audits, including coordination with auditors and closure of audit queries.
