Job Description:

Role Definition: Founders key technical partner, responsible for turning design concepts into cost-efficient, high-quality, and production-ready products. The role manages sampling, vendor negotiations, and sourcing diversification while supporting product innovation through mockups, colour/fit variations, and market research. This person defines product-specific QC guidelines, briefs the QC Executive, and ensures all products meet brand standards for fit, construction, and durability.

Tasks & Activities:

1. Product Development & Innovation

• Develop mockups and colour/fit variations for upcoming product launches.
• Conduct market research on trends, fabrics, fits, and construction best suited for the brands ideal customer avatars.
• Analyze competitor products for quality, fit, and pricing benchmarks.
• Create detailed Tech Packs and Patterns for all new developments.
• Collaborate with sampling vendors to achieve perfect initial samples through iterative refinements.

2. Technical Development & Quality Control

• Evaluate and select fabrics and materials based on composition, performance, and market cost.
• Negotiate target costs with vendors to ensure alignment with product quality standards.
• Manage the full sampling lifecycle Prototype, Fit, and PPS ensuring readiness for production.
• Review garment construction, stitching, and finishing for technical accuracy and durability.
• Enforce Tech Pack specifications during vendor sampling and pre-production.

3. Sourcing & Execution Management

• Research and vet new vendors for stitching, fabric sourcing, and trims.
• Drive vendor diversification by establishing 23 reliable partners per key product category.
• Conduct factory visits to evaluate standards, production feasibility, and compliance.
• Manage the sourcing, QC, and dispatch of trims, components, and packaging materials before production.

4. QC Oversight & Corrective Action

• Create detailed QC Guidelines for each product, derived from the approved Tech Pack covering measurements, stitching, fabric, finishing, and construction.
• Brief the QC Executive (Rajeshwari) before every new products bulk inspection and ensure she understands specific quality parameters.
• Review Rajeshwaris QC reports, identify recurring defects or trends, and take corrective action with vendors.
• Collaborate with the Operations Executive to analyse high-return SKUs, identify technical issues, and implement product improvements.
• Document all QC findings and resolutions in the R&D Tracker for traceability and learning.

5. Reporting & Accountability

• Maintain and update the R&D Tracker with sample status, cost negotiations, QC notes, and vendor progress.
• Submit weekly reports to the founder and R&D Manager summarising sample progress, vendor performance, and QC outcomes.
• Present monthly summaries on product readiness, vendor diversification, and implemented quality improvements.
