About the Company / University :
The National Film Award winner ' MIT-ADTU School of Film & Television' is seeking a distinguished academic professional with expertise in Screenwriting and Direction to join our esteemed faculty.
About the Role :
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in narrative development, character creation, script structure, and visual storytelling. This individual will be responsible for delivering exceptional instruction across a range of foundational and advanced filmmaking courses, fostering student growth and development, and contributing to the academic and creative excellence of our institution.
Responsibilities :
Teaching & Curriculum Development :
- Design and deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in foundational and advanced filmmaking courses, including Screenwriting and Direction, to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop and maintain courses that promote critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication in the context of filmmaking.
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate relevant industry practices, technologies, and methodologies into course curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that aligns with institutional goals and objectives.
- Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes, using data to inform instructional decisions and improve course effectiveness.
Mentorship & Student Development :
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students in the development of their screenwriting and direction skills, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with students on film projects, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their creative goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students, providing individualized attention and support to ensure their academic and artistic success.
Contribution to Academic & Creative Environment :
- Contribute to the development of a vibrant academic and creative environment within the institution, through participation in departmental and institutional events, and through the mentorship and guidance of students and colleagues.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop and implement initiatives that foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities, such as research, publication, and exhibition, to maintain a high level of expertise and contribute to the institution's reputation for academic and artistic excellence.
Qualifications :
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Film and Media, Screenwriting, Direction, or equivalent in related field.
- Proven teaching experience in screenwriting and direction, with a focus on narrative development, character creation, script structure, and visual storytelling.
- Strong understanding of film industry practices, technologies, and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and industry professionals.
- Ability to design and deliver curriculum that aligns with institutional goals and objectives.
- Experience with curriculum development, course design, and assessment.
