Enterprise Server Operations - Engineer III

Location - Bangalore - On-site

Job Summary

The Enterprise Server Operations Engineer III is responsible for the design, operation, optimization, and support of enterprise-scale server infrastructure. This role focuses on server operations, infrastructure architecture, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI). The engineer ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security of on-prem and hybrid environments while driving automation and operational excellence. Additionally act as technical leads, architects, and escalation points for complex infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Server Operations

• Manage and support enterprise server environments (physical and virtual) across IT Infrastructure systems
• Perform OS provisioning, patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and lifecycle management
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability; troubleshoot complex server issues
• Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and change-management policies

Infrastructure Architecture

• Design and maintain scalable, resilient server and virtualization architectures
• Participate in infrastructure modernization and data center transformation initiatives
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements aligned with business needs
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and technical documentation
• Lead architecture reviews and mentor junior engineers

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

• Knowledge of Deploy, manage, and optimize VDI platforms (VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop)
• Manage image lifecycle, user profiles, and application delivery
• Troubleshoot performance, login, and session-related issues
• Ensure secure remote access and user experience optimization

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

• Knowledge of Deploy, operate, and support HCI solutions (VMware vSAN, Nutanix, or Azure Stack HCI)
• Perform cluster upgrades, expansions, and performance tuning
• Monitor storage, compute, and network resources within HCI environments
• Troubleshoot cluster-level and node-level issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux server administration
• Virtualization platforms (XCPNG, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM etc.,)
• Hands-on expertise in VDI and HCI architectures
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Load Balancing
• Storage concepts: SAN, NAS, object storage, snapshots, replication
• Backup and DR tools (Veeam, Commvault, native HCI solutions etc.,)

Soft Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Leadership, mentoring, and technical decision-making abilities

Certifications (Preferred)

• Microsoft Azure Administrator / Azure Stack HCI certifications / Designing
• Nutanix NCP / NCM
• VMware VCP / VCIX
• ITIL Foundation
