A Day in the Life

The Engineering Manager – Systems demonstrates leadership in development of our new neurostimulator system solutions and development of system design engineers. The employee acts as an influential functional manager working within a matrix organization to design and develop novel system features and full system solutions that reach across all NMPH therapies. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, translation of research to product development and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her team on issues related to the design, design characterization and verification testing, operations support and product release.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


• Plans, directs and implements all aspects of system design, development and validation of medical device systems and products
• Knowledge of product development, clinical (good to have), and regulatory requirements
• Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies in partnership with OU.
• Leads the team in partnership with business for the development of new concepts from initial design to market release and sustain products already on the field.
• Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of development.
• Organizes the coordination of activities across the product teams within a system development to ensure timely delivery of the system for design characterization, verification, and validation testing.
• Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
• Poses strong technical leadership skills to guide, and mentor team of engineers involved in the system SI&T process
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the systems verification and validation processes
• Communicates effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing technical insights and updates on systems verification and validation progress. 

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree required with Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience
• Experience managing a cross functional engineering technical team size of 20 or more.
• Provide a blend of people management and technical savviness.
• Have a deep understanding of the embedded and application SW development processes (Agile, waterfall methodology) and in establishing metrics & recommended the processes for the team.
• Experience with validation of test methods, hard and software, test fixtures.
