About the Role

Were hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and scale Driffles engineering team (on-site, Gurgaon). This role blends technical leadership and people management, owning everything from architecture and coding standards to delivery and team performance. Youll work closely with founders and product to translate business goals into a clear technical roadmap.

Youll mentor and grow developers, drive key system design decisions, and ensure our Node.js/Next.js platform with MySQL/MongoDB remains secure, scalable, and high-performing. Were looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys diving into code, fosters strong team culture, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

Required Skills

• 7+ years in software engineering; 2+ years in technical leadership (Tech Lead/EM).
• Strong in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem.
• Experience with React/Next.js and full-stack/API development.
• Hands-on with MySQL and MongoDB (relational + NoSQL).
• Designs scalable systems (microservices/modular monolith, caching, performance).
• Comfortable coding, debugging, and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Familiar with CI/CD, cloud, and containerization practices.
• Proven team leadership, mentorship, and performance management experience.
• Strong Agile/Scrum project delivery and prioritization skills.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in hiring and building engineering teams.
• Interest/experience in gaming or e-commerce is a plus.
• Degree in CS/Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team; foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Technical Strategy & Architecture: Define and drive scalable architecture (Node.js, Next.js, MySQL/MongoDB) ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
• Hands-on Development: Stay close to the code; conduct reviews, enforce best practices, and contribute to critical features.
• Project Delivery: Own sprint planning, execution, and timely releases in collaboration with Product. Remove blockers and ensure quality delivery.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, Ops, and Support to align engineering with business goals.
• Process Optimization: Strengthen Agile practices, CI/CD, code quality, and monitoring to improve efficiency.
• Hiring & Scaling: Support recruitment, onboarding, and team expansion to build a strong engineering bench.
• Innovation & Vision: Evaluate emerging technologies and guide adoption to keep the platform competitive and future-ready.
