Apply software engineering principles and practices in programming technologies and platforms to achieve business outcomes, while building out core technology and domain knowledge required to be effective.
Reporting Lines:
The role position reports into the Chapter Lead – Chapter Lead Payments System Engineering
Roles & Responsibilities
- Use knowledge of engineering principles and practices in system technologies and platforms to achieve business outcomes, while supporting team members to build out core technologies and deepening domain knowledge.
- Set up engineering teams which consists of squads delivering products & initiatives aligning to bank's Strategic and business objectives.
- Establish a functional and seamless operating model that operates efficiently.
- Create empowered teams with decision making autonomy by providing leadership and clear direction that empowers squad members to deliver on priorities, outcomes and tasks.
- Deliver product with technical change aligned with the bank's strategic priorities.
- Ensure the creation of a high performing and engaged direct team through effective leadership.
- Ensures Compliance with the bank's change and delivery frameworks and methodologies.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement and introspection.
- Manage an effective change pipeline by ensuring supply, demand and capability alignment.
- Identifies, raises and mitigates operational risks; work with stakeholders, partners and others to implement appropriate risk controls and measures.
- Promote the culture and values of the Crews and leads the team to do the same.
- Review and approve cost estimates at various stages of the delivery lifecycle.
- Support incident resolution and ensure collaborative and open post incident review and root cause analysis.
- Work with bank and partner stakeholders to ensure appropriately skilled resources are in place.
- Drive uplift in individual squad maturity and engineering practices
Essential Skills
- Hands-on Experience: 13+ years in developing backend applications in one or both of the programming languages listed below:
- .NET: C# .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, REST APIs, and WebAPI.
- Java: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and related frameworks.
- Tech Stack Support: Ability to support and resolve issues in one or both of the programming languages listed below:
- .NET: .NET web services.
- Java: Java-based applications and services
- Demonstrated knowledge of micro services and REST API Integration
- Ability to create database designs and database programming for both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MSSQL, Oracle, Aurora)
- Modern Javascript frameworks (React) and Scripting languages – Javascript, Typescript, HTML/CSS, JQuery.
- Source code control, build and deployment tools (CI/CD) – GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus deploy.
- Cloud Experience on AWS (CloudFormation, Code Pipeline etc.)– (Must).
- Experience with event driven architecture and kafka.
- Understanding of monitoring tools like splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana.
- Build and hosting technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) – Desirable
- Be able to support and resolve issues in tech stacks that run in .NET webservices.
- Knowledge of security best practices and principles.
- Cloud domain knowledge - AWS Certification
- Experience with Monitoring tool ObservInc , Prometheus & AppDynamics
- Experience working in DevOps model
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology or any similar stream
