Engineering Managers at Reach are technical leaders with sharp business acumen who build high-velocity teams while maintaining engineering excellence. You'll report to the VP of Service Delivery and work closely with our co-founder team on strategic decisions.

We're looking for someone who can code-review a pull request in the morning and present a technical roadmap to a Fortune 500 client in the afternoon.
- Sprint planning with India team across 3 engineering pods
- Architecture review for new real-time billing module
- Client escalation call (US Timezone) - translate technical constraints into business solutions
- Co-founder review - present Q1 delivery forecast with risk mitigation
- Code review + mentoring session with senior engineers
- Build and Lead High-Performing Teams: Build and lead 7-10 engineers across 3-4 pods to build and scale highly reliable, secure, and performant systems throughout the product development lifecycle
- Own Delivery Metrics: Maintain >95% on-time delivery rate with defined quality gates. Zero P1 bugs in production launches
- Predict and Prevent: Surface blockers 2 sprints ahead, not during sprint review. Escalate fast with proposed solutions
- Client Commitments: Treat go-live dates as non-negotiable. Build buffer into plans, not excuses into timelines
- Quality Gates: Implement automated testing coverage >80%. Ensure availability, reliability and scalability as per defined SLAs
- Revenue Impact: Understand how your technical decisions affect client economics and our platform margins. Contribute to pricing strategy discussions
- Build vs. Buy Decisions: Make pragmatic decisions between custom builds and third-party integrations with clear ROI analysis
- Product & Roadmap Influence: Understand and influence the product and business roadmap. Build consensus with all stakeholders
- Client Escalations: Jump on calls within 30 minutes for P1 issues. Translate technical complexity into business language clients understand
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work daily with Finance (revenue forecasts), Design (UX decisions), DevOps (infrastructure costs), Content (documentation) to streamline operations
- Hands-On Technical Leader: Roll up sleeves to debug critical production issues or unblock teams on complex problems. Drive adherence to best practices and architectural guidelines
- Technology Roadmap: Contribute and influence the technology roadmap as part of the tech leadership team. Research emerging technologies and propose adoption where relevant
- Metrics-Driven Decisions: Make decisions based on data from Datadog, New Relic, Looker - not gut feel. Set actionable goals in the form of OKRs
- Engineering Excellence: Drive a results-driven engineering culture with strong bias for action. Prioritize speed without compromising quality
- Talent Development: Hire, mentor, and coach the best engineering and management talent. Hold team accountable for meeting high standards backed by metrics
1.Premium Institution: B.Tech/M.Tech from IIT, IIIT, NIT, BITS, VIT or equivalent premier institution
2.Experience: Minimum 11+ years with at least 3-4 years managing managers (not just individual contributors)
Technical & Leadership Acumen3.Track Record: Strong technical & product acumen with proven track record of building and leading multiple engineering teams of strong Software Engineers, Engineering Managers & Project Managers
4.Platform Experience: Demonstrated experience with building and delivering internet-scale products/services in one or more platforms: Native mobile (Android/iOS), Web (Angular/React/NodeJS), Backend (Java/GoLang)
5.Distributed Systems: Experience with building distributed systems and microservices architecture in the Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) with exposure to Java, Dropwizard/SpringBoot, Kafka, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Search, MySQL, ELK
6.System Design Fundamentals: Strong fundamentals in system design/architecture, object-oriented concepts, design patterns and non-functional requirements
Business Acumen- Business Outcomes: Proven track record of translating technical roadmaps into business outcomes (revenue growth, cost reduction, market expansion)
- Executive Presence: Experience presenting to C-level executives and enterprise clients with ability to articulate complex technical concepts in business terms
- Strategic Thinking: Proven experience with directly interacting with Business/Product/Ops leaders in defining/influencing/delivering the roadmap into tangible and measurable outcomes
- ROI-Driven Decisions: Demonstrated ability to make build-vs-buy decisions with ROI justification
- Delivery Track Record: Proven track record of maintaining >90% on-time delivery in fast-paced environments
- Full Product Lifecycle: Exposure to complete product lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment (CI/CD), monitoring and maintenance
- Hands-On Problem Solving: Comfortable to roll up sleeves and dive deep into business dashboards (Looker/Metabase) and system monitoring dashboards (New Relic, Datadog) to assess system health
- Escalation Management: Experience managing client escalations and turning them into process improvements
- Project Management Principles: Strong project management fundamentals - you know the difference between blocker and dependency
- Startup DNA: Self-driven, comfortable with fast-paced, agile, always-on, highly ambiguous startup environment with customer obsession

- Scale Experience: Experience supporting platforms processing millions of transactions per day
