Role Overview

We already have a junior engineer learning seal design. We are now looking for a senior, hands-on oil seal expert who can own seal development end-to-end , reduce trial-and-error, and build a repeatable, predictable seal development system .

This role is for someone who becomes the technical authority for oil seal performance , while mentoring junior engineers and working closely with tooling and production teams.

Candidate Profile (Must Have)

10-15 years of hands-on experience in oil seal design & development

Deep expertise in lip geometry, rubber tooling, and seal performance

Strong trial analysis and corrective decision-making skills

Comfortable working inside a manufacturing plant

Experience with aftermarket and/or export programs preferred

Key Responsibilities

1 Oil Seal Design & Lip Geometry (Core Responsibility)

Design oil seal cross-sections for aftermarket applications

Define primary & secondary lip geometry, contact band width, lip angles, micro-radii, and spring groove geometry

Convert OEM references into robust, aftermarket-ready seal designs

2 Rubber Tooling & Insert Design

Design insert-based rubber moulds for oil seals

Define steel-safe allowances

Guide CNC turning and grinding of lip inserts

Approve tooling before trials

3 Trials, Corrections & Validation

Own rubber trials end-to-end

Analyse leakage, lip burn, excess torque, and wear patterns

Decide steel corrections based on engineering judgement, not guesswork

Reduce trial counts, rework, and development lead time

4 Aftermarket Performance Engineering

Design seals tolerant to shaft roughness variation, runout, and misalignment

Balance sealing performance with wear life under real-world conditions

5 Team Development (Critical)

Mentor and guide junior seal engineers

Convert hit-and-trial learning into structured methods

Define internal seal design standards

Build a repeatable, scalable seal development process

6 Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with metal shell tooling, toolroom (CNC & grinding), moulding, press operators, and quality teams

Ensure seal development never becomes a production bottleneck
