Responsible for being the escalation point of contact for all high level break/fix and maintenance issues or events for the OC. Provides subject matter expertise for CRAN, CMTS, transport, Video, CDV, HSI and works closely with the engineering teams. Performs a variety of highly complex analytical duties in the planning development, testing and evaluation of Comcast's network. Responds to escalations and resolves issues that arise from hardware and software failures. ABOUT THE ROLE:
Position available with Universal Media, LLC in CIEC (Comcast India Engineering Center) as a Network Operations Engineer. This role is part of the GND(Global Network and Distribution) operations team which is responsible for maintaining corporate and broadcast networks. We are looking for an engineer who has a broad spectrum of knowledge with all networking technologies. Being in operations team needs understanding of all parts of network. Also includes reacting to alerts, working with vendors and clients to resolve issues, working with other network teams such as engineering, architects, automation teams to understand the changing network and troubleshooting problems.|
RESPONSILILITIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
- Primary monitoring and escalation point for identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of events affecting customer production and internal network environments.
- Respond to and remediate alerts as they are generated during your specified shift.
- Provide notification to internal and external Customers during Severity 1 events.
- Support customers with a variety of network, voice, and service-related issues in a fast-paced, independent, service environment with an emphasis on quality. Able to demonstrate a high level of patience with a customer base containing a wide and varying range of technical expertise.
- Restore customer network services within a specified repair time frame based on our SLAs.
- Investigate outages to determine root cause, and provide recommendations for changes in processes & procedures, or network configuration to prevent recurrence of similar outages in the future.
- Update trouble tickets with clear and concise notes summarizing actions taken and next steps.
- Escalate unresolved network issues to senior network NOC engineering.
- Work closely with network, compute and automation engineers regarding technology and hardware upgrades.
- Create, update, and document system processes and tasks as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-4 years of experience in network engineering. CCNP equivalent.
- Monitor ticket queue and respond to service requests and incidents.
- Experience with Routing and switching (Port Channel, STP, BGP, OSPF, redistribution),
- Firewall understanding and troubleshooting – Security and NAT rule creation, traffic monitoring and troubleshooting, firewall management.
- IP assignments, Device upgrades, creating and maintaining documents and SOPs.
- Able to troubleshoot basic to intermediary issues.
- Able to work with vendors to troubleshoot issues and find root cause, RMA.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of Software Defined products, respective alert and monitoring.
- Cisco ACI, Arista, VxLAN, python or Ansible scripting – good to have.
- Able to collaborate with automation and reliability team to fine tune alerting and monitoring.
- Basic understanding of wireless controllers
