Roles and Responsibilities


Firmware and Hardware Testing

o Develop and maintain test firmware to validate code written by core embedded engineering teams.

o Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and performance validation of embedded firmware. validate hardware interfaces, embedded system performance under varying operational conditions


Manufacturing & JIG Testing

o Design and support JIG Test Systems, ensuring reliable testing procedures are in place for manufacturing QA.

o Troubleshoot production issues and suggest engineering fixes or test updates.

o Collaborate with external manufacturing partners to support production workflows.


Research & PoC Development

o Lead technical research into new components, technologies, or architectures relevant to upcoming product lines. o Build proof-of-concept (PoC) prototypes to validate ideas quickly.

o Document findings and present them to cross-functional teams for further product exploration.


Sensor Integration and Communication:

Interface with a wide range of sensors, including accelerometers, temperature sensors, GPS modules, and other VSM sensors.

Implement communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LoRa for data transmission and device connectivity.

Use various communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, PWM, PDM, etc


IoT Ecosystem Development:

Work with IoT platforms like ESP-IDF, Raspberry Pi, NRF-SDK, VSCode, Arduino-IDE, to build prototypes, proof-of-concepts and market ready products Develop and maintain device drivers and firmware libraries.

Integrate devices with cloud platforms for data storage and analysis.


Collaboration & Mentorship:

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including veterinarians, researchers, and engineers. Act as a liaison between interns/GTEs and senior engineers, translating research or task requirements into actionable plans.

Manage Interns/GTEs schedules, provide technical guidance, and review their work for quality and alignment with project goals.

Collaborate closely with the R&D, firmware, product, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration and communication.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practices.


Requirements


Proven Experience:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

1-2+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems development, with a focus on firmware programming.

Understanding of microprocessor architectures, peripherals, and communication protocols. Experience in PoC development and technology research is a strong plus.


Required Technical Skills:

Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.

Familiarity with reading data sheets and understanding schematics

Version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Familiarity with RTOS, communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, BLE

Experience with test automation tools and hardware debugging instruments like CRO, Power profiler, Logic Analyser, PCB viewers, etc.

Good knowledge of electronics basics including applications of various electronic concepts

Hands-on experience with JIG design and hardware validation in manufacturing environments


Additional Technical Skills :

Familiarity with platforms like nRF-SDK or RoX SDK etc

SMD component soldering is a plus.


Soft Skills:

Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Passion for learning new technologies and staying up-to-date with industry trends.

Comfortable with leading and mentoring Interns/GTEs, while supporting senior stakeholders with research and documentation


Additional:

Experience working in a fast paced environment - like startups

Experience working with small and multi-disciplinary teams is a plus

Upto 2 strong references or LORs either from previous employers or professors.
