Job Description

Position Objective


The Electronic Procurement Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, and vendor management of electronic components used in manufacturing electronic products such as smart meters, embedded systems, and communication devices. The role requires strong technical understanding of electronic components along with supply chain and vendor negotiation capabilities to ensure timely availability of materials at optimized cost.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Component Sourcing & Procurement

  • Identify and procure electronic components such as:
  • Microcontrollers / ICs
  • Communication modules
  • Passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors)
  • Connectors, sensors, relays, and power components
  • Work closely with R&D and engineering teams for BOM review and component selection.
  • Ensure availability of components as per production schedules.

2. Vendor Development & Management

  • Identify and onboard reliable component manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain relationships with global and local distributors such as TI, Renesas, Infineon, NXP, ST, etc.
  • Evaluate vendors based on price, quality, delivery capability, and reliability.

3. Cost Optimization

  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
  • Conduct cost benchmarking and alternate sourcing for critical components.
  • Support engineering teams in component cost reduction initiatives.


4. Supply Risk Management

  • Monitor component lifecycle (NRND, EOL).
  • Develop second source strategy for critical components.
  • Manage shortages and ensure continuity of supply.

5. Procurement Planning

  • Convert engineering BOM into procurement BOM.
  • Track lead times and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with production planning to ensure timely material availability.

6. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain procurement records, purchase orders, and vendor documentation.
  • Ensure components comply with RoHS, REACH, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with quality teams for incoming material inspection and vendor quality issues.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering
  • 38 years of experience in electronics component procurement or sourcing
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing industry


Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of:

  • Electronic components and semiconductor devices
  • BOM structures and PCB assemblies
  • Global electronic component supply chain
  • Authorized distributors and manufacturer channels
  • Component lifecycle management


Skills Required:


  • Vendor negotiation and commercial skills
  • Strong technical understanding of electronics components
  • Supply chain planning and inventory management
  • Good communication and coordination with engineering teams
  • ERP / SAP / procurement tools experience
