Position
Electrical Draughtsman Railway Tunnel Department
Electrical / E&M / Design & Engineering
Role Summary
The Electrical Draughtsman is responsible for preparing accurate electrical drawings and layouts for railway tunnel projects, including power supply, lighting, earthing, fire & life safety systems, and tunnel-specific E&M services, in compliance with Indian Railways / RDSO / IEC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed electrical drawings for railway tunnels such as:
Tunnel lighting layouts (normal & emergency)
Power distribution and SLDs
Cable routing & tray layouts
Earthing & bonding layouts
Fire detection & alarm systems
SCADA / communication layouts (if applicable)
Develop GA drawings, sectional drawings, and as-built drawings.
Modify and update drawings as per site conditions, engineer instructions, and approvals.
Coordinate with Electrical Engineers, Civil team, and other disciplines for clash-free drawings.
Ensure drawings comply with:
Indian Railways / RDSO guidelines
NBC, IEC, IS standards
Safety norms for tunnel projects
Maintain proper drawing registers, revisions, and document control.
Assist in tender drawings, BOQ support, and quantity take-offs.
Support site team during execution by issuing shop drawings and revisions.
Prepare as-built drawings after completion of works.
Required Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
Knowledge of railway tunnel electrical systems
Basic understanding of HT/LT systems, lighting, earthing, fire safety
Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications & standards
Coordination and communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Certification in AutoCAD / Electrical Drafting (preferred)
Experience
Minimum 35 years of experience in:
Railway projects / tunnel projects / metro projects / infrastructure works
Experience with Indian Railways / Metro / IRCON / RVNL / DMRC projects is an advantage
