Electrical Design Engineer

Department: Solar Engineering / Renewable Energy Projects

Location: Chennai & Ahmedabad

Job Summary:

The role involves leading or supporting the electrical design and engineering of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, primarily ground-mounted and utility-scale projects. The candidate will ensure that all electrical components are designed, optimized, and implemented in compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering:

• Develop detailed electrical designs for solar PV systems (DC & AC side).
• Prepare single-line diagrams, cable layouts, and load calculations.
• Select and size components like inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Conduct energy yield simulations using tools like PVsyst or Helioscope.

Project Coordination:

• Collaborate with civil and structural teams for integrated design.
• Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Support project planning and scheduling from a design perspective.

Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure designs meet local and international electrical codes (e.g., IEC, NEC).
• Prepare technical documentation for approvals and audits.
• Assist in preparing BOQs and technical specifications.

Quality & Safety:

• Review and validate vendor designs and drawings.
• Conduct site visits for design validation and troubleshooting.
• Ensure safety standards are embedded in design practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
• 58 years of experience in solar electrical design, with exposure to at least 50 MW of ground-mounted projects.

Skills & Tools:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PVsyst, Helioscope.
• Strong understanding of grid integration and electrical distribution systems.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
