Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Drone/FPV Engineer located in New Delhi/NCR. The Drone/FPV Engineer will be responsible for developing, designing, and testing drone and UAV systems. Daily tasks include working on aerospace engineering projects, programming flight systems, managing robotics-based solutions, diagnosing technical issues, and optimizing drone performance for various applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide innovative solutions and ensure high-quality results.

Role: Senior FPV/UAV Engineer, Location: Delhi/NCR

Experience: 2+ years in building and tuning custom drones FPV/Medium Lift Drones.

Key Skills:

  • Expert in ArduPilot for autonomous missions and Betaflight for freestyle/cinematic rigs.
  • Mastery of Mission Planner for ground control and log analysis.
  • Component-level assembly: capable of building a drone from a pile of parts (Frame, FC, ESC, Motors) to a flight-ready system.
  • Strong soldering skills and understanding of DC electronics.
  • Ability to tune PIDs for smooth flight characteristics.

1. Educational Background

Bachelors Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electronics & Communication (ECE), Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics.

Alternative: Diploma in Avionics or certified UAV Technician courses with significant portfolio evidence.

2. Core Technical Proficiencies (Software & Firmware)

The candidate must demonstrate deep knowledge of the specific flight stacks mentioned below :

  • ArduPilot & Mission Planner (Industrial/Autonomous Focus):
  • Configuration: Ability to flash firmware and configure parameters for various frame types (Quad, Hex, VTOL, Fixed Wing).
  • Mission Planning: Proficiency in setting up autonomous waypoint missions, geofencing, and failsafes using Mission Planner or QGroundControl.
  • Tuning: Advanced PID autotuning and manual tuning for stability in wind or with heavy payloads.
  • Log Analysis: Ability to read .bin or DataFlash logs to diagnose crashes or vibration issues.
  • Peripherals: Integration of GPS/Compass, RTK systems, Optical Flow, and LiDAR sensors.
  • Betaflight (Performance/FPV Focus):
  • Rate Profiles: Understanding of RC rates, Expo, and Super rates for different flying styles.
  • Filtering: configuring RPM filtering and dynamic notch filters to reduce motor noise and prevent "flyaways."
  • Peripherals: Setup of VTX (Video Transmitter) tables, ELRS/Crossfire receiver binding, and OSD (On-Screen Display) layout.
  • INAV (GPS-Assist & Fixed Wing Focus):
  • Configuring "Return to Home" (RTH), Position Hold, and Cruise modes.
  • Servo mixing for fixed wings or flying wings.

  • 3. Hardware & Component Level Assembly

This is critical for building custom rigs and repairing crashes.

    • Soldering & Wiring: High-level proficiency in soldering (SMD and through-hole). Ability to wire flight controllers, ESCs (4-in-1 and individual), and peripherals without creating "cold joints."
    • Power Systems: Understanding of LiPo/Li-ion battery safety, voltage sag, C-ratings, and designing power distribution boards (PDB) to handle high current.
    • Propulsion System Design: Ability to calculate the correct Motor (KV rating) + Propeller (Pitch/Size) + Battery (Voltage) combination for specific thrust-to-weight ratios using tools like eCalc.
    • Radio Links: Knowledge of protocols like MAVLink (for telemetry), CRSF/ELRS (for control), and SBUS/UART communication.

    4. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

Blackbox Analysis: Reading Blackbox logs in Betaflight to visualize noise and gyro data.

Bench Testing: Using multimeters and oscilloscopes to test for shorts, continuity, or signal noise in video feeds.

Field Repair: Rapid diagnosis of motor desyncs, GPS lock failures, or video loss in the field.

    5. Desirable "Bonus" Skills

    • CAD Design: Basic proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 to design or modify 3D printed TPU mounts for antennas, GoPros, or GPS units.
    • Python/Scripting: Experience with DroneKit or MAVSDK to write custom python scripts for ArduPilot automation.
    • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DGCA (India) Digital Sky platform, NPNT compliance, UIN registration, and drone airspace categories (Red/Green/Yellow zones).
