Overview

We are seeking a Senior Disaster Recovery Lead to lead enterprise-wide disaster recovery planning, testing, and readiness within an Azure-centric infrastructure environment. This person will own the DR program, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure that critical business systems can recover from outages, cyber incidents, or major failures.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Azure Site Recovery, cloud networking, storage, and real-world failover events. This role requires leadership, technical understanding, communication skills, and the ability to build and mature a DR framework from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Program Ownership

• Own and maintain the Disaster Recovery plan for critical systems.
• Keep DR documentation current and aligned with actual infrastructure.
• Define and support RTO and RPO requirements with business partners.
• Develop and expand the enterprise DR program framework.

DR Testing and Exercises

• Plan, schedule, and run DR exercises with infrastructure and application teams.
• Lead tabletop and live failover tests.
• Document results, track remediation items, and drive follow through.
• Validate configuration and readiness of Azure Site Recovery.

Cross Team Coordination

• Act as the primary point of coordination between infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, and application teams.
• Ensure each team understands roles and steps during failover and recovery.
• Support communication during major incidents when DR plans are invoked.

Technical Leadership

• Validate ASR configurations, storage replication, VM failover settings, and networking paths.
• Confirm firewall rules, DNS entries, NSGs, and route tables support DR traffic.
• Review and correct documentation for system dependencies and runbooks.
• Identify gaps across infrastructure, networking, and application layers.

Continuous Improvement

• Analyze DR test outcomes and drive program enhancements.
• Introduce automation opportunities where possible.
• Support ransomware recovery planning and readiness.
• Maintain audit-ready DR documentation and compliance evidence.

Required Experience

• Senior-level experience coordinating DR within infrastructure or cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Site Recovery.
• Strong understanding of Azure networking concepts.
• Experience with VM and storage replication.
• Background working with cross-functional technical teams.
• Experience leading DR exercises at scale.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Experience recovering from outages or real-world disaster events.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with systems that rely on direct database connectivity.
• Exposure to ransomware recovery frameworks.
• Familiarity with firewall rules, DNS, and network segmentation.
• Experience in environments with high compliance or audit requirements.
• Background in business continuity planning.
