Role Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Software Development to lead and scale our engineering organization across multiple product modules. This role will oversee the Delivery Head, guide technical managers, and play a key role in shaping the technology roadmap, team structure, and execution strategy. The Director will be responsible for engineering leadership, budgeting, hiring, and cross-functional alignment to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of internal products. The role demands a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success of engineering initiatives and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across engineering teams and product modules
• Oversee and mentor the Delivery Head and Technical Managers to ensure successful execution and delivery
• Define and drive the technology roadmap in alignment with business goals
• Own budgeting, resource planning, and capacity management for the engineering department
• Lead hiring efforts, including workforce planning, interviewing, and onboarding
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless product delivery
• Monitor and report on engineering KPIs, delivery timelines, and quality metrics
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Evaluate and implement tools, platforms, and processes to improve team productivity and system scalability
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and emerging technologies to enhance development efficiency and product capabilities
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards
• Take full ownership of engineering outcomes, including delivery quality, team performance, and strategic alignment
• Be accountable for resolving escalations, managing risks, and ensuring delivery commitments are met.

Required Skills and Experience

• 12+ years of experience in software development
• Minimum 8+ years in leadership roles, including managing large, distributed engineering teams
• Proven experience overseeing multiple product lines and delivery functions
• Strong background in system architecture, cloud-native development, and enterprise software delivery
• Hands-on experience with .NET, React, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of engineering strategy and execution
• Experience driving innovation and productivity improvements through tools, automation, and AI,

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare IT or SaaS product companies
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare workflows
• Azure or other cloud certifications
• Exposure to AI/ML, data engineering, or cybersecurity initiatives.
