Job Description
1. Government Engagement & Policy Advocacy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with central ministries, state governments, Foreign missions, regulatory bodies, PSUs, port authorities, railways, customs, foreign trade bodies and regional trade associations.
- Represent the organisation in policy consultations, industry forums, working groups, and government meetings to identify business opportunities and then to develop them till their logical end.
- Track policy developments in logistics, ports, shipping, rail, trade, inland terminals, and multimodal infrastructure.
- Prepare policy notes, position papers, and submissions aligned to company business interests.
- Influence policy discussions to support business growth across multiple business units.
2. Cross-Business Understanding & Commercial Enablement
- Use strong understanding of multiple business of logistics- Freight Forwarding, CFS/Warehousing, Ports & Container Terminals, Shipping Lines / Liner business, Rail Inland/ Multimodal logistics to identify business opportunities emerging from government initiatives.
- Support internal business teams in evaluating government projects, tenders, concessions, and partnerships and lead discussions with concerned Government entities to further our business interests.
- Provide commercial and policy inputs for expansion in new locations, terminals, corridors, or logistics parks.
- Align company strategy with government programs such as: PM Gati Shakti, National Logistics Policy, MMLP Program, Sagar Mala, Bharat Mala, Dedicated Freight Corridor and Coastal Shipping / Inland Waterways programs
3. Regulatory Approvals & Project Enablement
- Facilitate approvals, clearances, and coordination with government agencies
- Coordinate with internal teams (business, legal, finance, operations, projects) to ensure smooth execution of identified projects.
- Resolve regulatory issues impacting operations across different business units with concerted efforts with the regulatory bodies.
4. Strategic Stakeholder Management
- Build strong engagement with:
- Ministries (Shipping, Commerce, Railways, Finance, Transport, Industry, etc.)
- State governments & industrial development corporations
- Port authorities & terminal operators
- Railways & DFCCIL
- Customs, DGFT, regulatory bodies
- Shipping lines, trade bodies, and industry associations
- Internal stakeholders across businesses
- Develop partnerships that support long-term business growth.
- Support senior leadership in high-level government meetings.
5. Events, Forums & Institutional Engagement
- Plan and organise government meetings, industry roundtables, conferences, and official events to strengthen organisational visibility.
- Coordinate participation in government summits, logistics forums, and trade events.
- Ensure maximum business benefit from events through proper planning, stakeholder mapping, and follow-up.
- Manage visits of government officials, delegations, and senior stakeholders.
- Support leadership during official interactions with government.
6. Communication, Conduct & Representation
- Represent the organisation professionally in all government interactions.
- Maintain high standards of communication, protocol, and corporate conduct.
- Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and speaking points for leadership.
- Ensure consistent messaging aligned with company strategy.
- Coordinate with multiple internal stakeholders across businesses.
