Job Description: Director of Engineering (Full Stack) - India

Reports To: Head of Engineering / Director of Engineering - Meeru AI

Team Size: 15-20 engineers (Backend, Frontend, Full Stack)

Position Overview

We're seeking an exceptional Director of Engineering (Full Stack) to lead our India-based engineering team and drive the full-stack development of the Meeru AI platform. This is a critical leadership role responsible for building and scaling a high-performing engineering organization in India while delivering world-class backend and frontend systems.

You'll lead a distributed team of 15-20 full-stack engineers (Backend, Frontend, and Full Stack), establish engineering excellence standards, and partner with US-based engineering leadership to deliver a transformational product to market. This role requires both deep technical expertise across the full stack and strong leadership skills to build, mentor, and scale engineering teams.

You'll be instrumental in shaping our engineering culture in India, establishing technical standards, and ensuring high-quality delivery as we scale from initial launch to serving hundreds of enterprise customers.

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

Full-Stack Experience:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in engineering leadership
• Deep expertise in both backend and frontend development
• Proven experience building and scaling full-stack SaaS applications
• Strong Python expertise (FastAPI, async programming, testing)
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript expertise (React, modern frameworks)
• Database design and optimization (PostgreSQL, complex queries, migrations)
• API design and integration patterns (REST, GraphQL, WebSockets)
