Director – New Ventures | Venture Creation & Startup Portfolio

Build companies, not just strategy.

We are building a portfolio of new companies across industries and are looking for a Director New Ventures to lead venture creation from opportunity identification to company launch.

This role is for someone who has actually built and launched ventures, recruited founding leaders, and helped scale new businesses through early growth.

You will work closely with leadership to identify market opportunities, design new companies, recruit venture CEOs, and build a portfolio of independent businesses.

What you will do

Identify new venture opportunities

• Identify high-potential markets and whitespace opportunities across industries
• Develop venture theses, business models, and new company concepts
• Evaluate opportunities through market research, commercial validation, and business case development

Launch new companies

• Lead ventures from concept validation launch
• Build business plans, operating models, and go-to-market strategies
• Support early-stage incubation, market entry, and initial scaling

Build and manage a startup portfolio

• Build and manage a pipeline of new ventures and portfolio companies
• Track milestones, performance, and growth metrics
• Support portfolio companies with strategic and operational guidance

Recruit venture CEOs and founding teams

• Define CEO/founder profiles for each new company
• Recruit and onboard venture CEOs and early leadership teams
• Mentor venture leaders during the early stages of company building

Develop the ecosystem around the portfolio

• Build relationships with founders, investors, operators, and industry experts
• Create partnerships that accelerate company creation and growth

Mandatory experience

This is a hands-on venture creation role.

Candidates must have direct experience launching ventures, startups, or new business units. You should be able to demonstrate experience such as:

• Taking a venture from idea to market launch
• Building a business model and operating plan
• Recruiting or working with founders / venture CEOs
• Launching and supporting new companies through early growth

Candidates whose experience is limited to consulting, research, or innovation planning without actual venture launches will not be considered.

Ideal background

Strong candidates are likely to come from:

• Startup founders or early startup operators
• Venture studios or venture builders
• Corporate new-venture / incubation teams
• Leaders who have launched new business lines inside organizations
