Director, Learning & Development (L&D) - Hyderabad, India
Position Summary:
The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) will lead the design, execution, and scaling of learning strategies focused on recruiter training, recruitment manager upskilling, and leadership capability development for a staffing and consulting organization. This role owns the end-to-end L&D operating model, including training budget planning, allocation, and ROI measurement, while building scalable, LMS-driven training programs and leveraging external leadership development partners. Based in Hyderabad, this role is a key leadership position within the India GCC and will partner closely with recruitment, delivery, and HR leaders globally. The L&D Director will manage a small, high-impact team responsible for training delivery and LMS content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Training & Upskilling
Design and deliver structured programs for:
o Recruiters (junior to senior)
o Recruitment Managers and Team Leads
Build capability across sourcing excellence, recruitment operations, client engagement, and performance management
Partner with recruitment leadership to identify skill gaps and upskilling priorities
ROI Tracking: Establish structured training calendars and measure efficiency gains through increased recruiter productivity. Implement real-time quality audits via call barging to evaluate recruiter communications, using insights to tailor targeted training and coaching interventions
Recruitment Leadership Development
Create upskilling pathways for recruitment managers covering:
o People leadership and coaching
o Business acumen and delivery forecasting
o Stakeholder and client communication
Leverage external training agencies to deliver leadership programs for India managers
Track learning outcomes and tie programs to performance metrics
Learning Design & LMS Enablement
Own LMS strategy, roadmap, and adoption
Build scalable, role-based LMS content including self-paced modules, assessments, and certifications
Oversee Content Creator / LMS Specialist to develop training modules for recruiter and manager learning
Training Delivery & Team Leadership
Manage an L&D team of two direct reports:
o Process / Recruiter Trainer delivers in-person and virtual recruiter training
o Content Creator / LMS Specialist builds scalable LMS modules and training content
Provide coaching, performance management, and career growth opportunities for the team
Ensure alignment of training programs with business priorities and schedules
Training Calendar & Program Planning
Develop and manage annual and quarterly training calendars
Balance operational delivery with learning schedules
Ensure timely communication, scheduling, and adoption of training programs
Training Budget Ownership & Governance
Own the annual L&D budget for recruitment and leadership training
Allocate and manage spend across:
o Internal programs
o External leadership development agencies
o LMS platforms and content development
Track budget utilization, ROI, and effectiveness
Ensure spending aligns with business priorities
Learning Measurement & Success Metrics
Measure performance through total training hours completed, recruiter productivity improvements, call quality scores, and reduction in offer rejections driven by stronger candidate control and engagement.
Use insights to continuously improve programs and optimize budget allocation
Maintain audit-ready training documentation
Develop AI-led quality check initiatives to automate assessments, improve consistency, and support scalable growth
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Partner with recruitment leadership, HR, Finance, and global stakeholders
Manage external vendors, contracts, and renewals within budget
Present training plans, spending, and outcomes to senior leadership
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a high-performing two-person L&D team
Set goals, performance expectations, and operating rhythms
Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and fiscal discipline
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred (HR, OD, Business, or related field)
15+ years of L&D or talent enablement experience
Strong background in recruiter training, recruitment operations, or staffing enablement
Experience building LMS-based scalable training programs
Experience managing small teams and training budgets
Strong stakeholder management skills with senior leaders
Preferred Experience:
Staffing or recruitment industry experience
Experience designing leadership programs for managers
Exposure to global or GCC delivery models
Vendor and content management experience
