Job Description

Director Industry Relations, GCGC, GITAM (Deemed to be University), is a key leadership role within the GITAM Career Guidance Centre (GCGC) GCGC (GITAM Career Guidance Center) is a strategic initiative aimed at guiding, training and assisting students with the best career opportunities. To execute this mission GCGC operates across three major verticals, Career Counseling and Mentoring, Advanced Competency Development, and Career Fulfillment.


The Director- Industry Relations, GCGC, will head the IR vertical and be responsible for providing career opportunities available to GITAM students, including but not restricted to campus placements, internships and industry projects.


Roles & Responsibilities:

Help develop/strengthen a robust Go-To-Market strategy and an outreach plan to promote GITAM as a preferred source of student talent among industrial and commercial enterprises

Diligently execute the GTM plan to actively engage with corporations and the industry across India to secure and cultivate relationships with top recruiters of student talent

Develop partnerships with industrial houses and businesses to help build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities for quality internships, project work and entry-level jobs for students of all schools and streams at GITAM year after year

Identify niche opportunities for premium talent and channel high-potential students for placements in high-end jobs and internships

Coordinate with campus career services teams to ensure adherence to quality standards of the career fulfillment talent and processes and to earn and maintain customer delight

Recruit, build and lead a high-performance team of front-end Industry Relations workforce, focused on sales, business development and territory/account management and aligned with the mission and values of the University

Establish satellite offices as necessary and develop metrics and mechanisms to monitor their performance remotely

Maintain a constantly updated repository of all primary and secondary contacts, inherited or developed, along with all interactions and activities with each such contact in a University-provided database

Leverage technology extensively to help run an efficient and transparent operation, and use analytics tools to aid in decision-making

Be accountable for quantity and quality outcomes in internships, project work, job placements and any additional performance criteria as defined by the University leadership and deliver results on key metrics as communicated

Prepare and present periodic updates to leadership on ongoing activities and progress on performance criteria

Work closely with GITAM schools, academic departments and other internal stakeholders to develop School- and sector-specific outreach and engagement strategies

Be available to take on additional responsibilities from time to time and to participate in overall University development activities as required by the leadership.


Skillset/Professional Background Requirements

A seasoned sales and business development executive experienced in selling high- value products or services into large and medium-sized enterprises

A proven track record in building relationships at the CXO level

Consistently high performer far beyond sales quotas

An outgoing person with excellent communication and team building skills

A deep understanding and insight into industry hiring trends, needs and requirements

Experience in, or exposure to campus placements/recruitment processes is highly desirable

Willing to travel up to 50% of the time


Educational Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree or equivalent

10+ years of relevant experience with at least five years managing a high-performance sales team
