What Youll Be Doing (Position Summary):
The Director, HR Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting the CIBC India by providing strategic and operational HR advisory services to business leaders and employees. This role is responsible for delivering HR solutions that align with enterprise strategies, local market requirements, and regulatory standards. The Director, HR Business Partner leads the HR Business Partner team who serve as a single point of accountability for people matters, manages employee relations, and ensures execution of talent management, performance, inclusion, and employee policy frameworks.

How Youll Succeed (Responsibilities):
- Act as the HR Prime for the CIBC India, providing HR Advisory support to CIBC India executives and leadership teams.
- Understand client business goals, objectives, and operating environment, develops and implements a human resource plan for business units to enable the business in meeting their goals and objectives.
- Lead and oversee the CIBC India HR Advisory function.
- Support the evolution of the HR function as CIBC India scales and matures.
- Serve as a single point of accountability for business leaders on CIBC India people matters.
- Provide people insights and risk visibility to the Head of HR, CIBC India to support decision-making.
- Incorporate change management methodology into HR planning and integration practices (i.e. stakeholder and impact analysis, implementation and communication plan) to ensure smooth transition towards the desired end state.
- Anticipate and plan for future human capability needs by analyzing and interpreting workforce information, reviewing results of employee surveys, and discussing top of mind issues and concerns with business and Head of HR.
- Meets client expectations by effectively managing priorities, deliverables and ensuring HR solutions are rolled out in an integrated, efficient and timely manner.
- Work with leadership team to ensure their HR requirements are met and to help build a working environment and culture that is conducive to high levels of employee commitment and engagement.
- Oversee Employee Relations matters and act as an escalation point for complex ER cases, investigations, and high-risk matters. Engaging internal committees or internal/ external counsel when required.
- Partner with the Head of HR and HR Compliance Officer on regulatory alignment, documentation, and audits.
- Oversee and manage execution of enterprise-defined strategies and frameworks related to Talent Management, Performance, Inclusion & Culture, and Employee Policies and Programs, ensuring local context is taken into account.
- Collaborate with enterprise Centers of Excellence (COEs) and in-country HR teams to ensure integrated HR solutions for the business.
- Execute enterprise programs locally, addressing function-specific needs of assigned workforce.
- Provide end-to-end HR Advisory support across employee lifecycle matters, including performance management, talent reviews, and other HR processes.
- Provides generalist HR policy interpretation and advice to enhance managers capability and to ensure adherence to Corporate HR policies, programs and standards
- Provide policy interpretation with regard to pension and benefits policies.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Total Rewards to support hiring, compensation, benefits, and capability needs of assigned employee population.
- Ensure HR activities are compliant with all applicable local laws, regulations, and CIBC policies.
- Support HR Country Lead and Compliance Officer during audits, regulatory inspections, and labor authority responses.
- Maintain local HR policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with enterprise standards and local legal requirements.
- Work cross-functionally to address business needs and deliver integrated people solutions.
- Support transition and continuous improvement of HR services, processes, and systems in India.
- Provide effective management of team members to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team and to their job.
- The HRBP is expected to proactively identify HR process and / or service delivery gaps and provide recommendations for improvement.
- This role is integral to establishing foundational HR practices and supporting CIBC Indias growth.

Who You Are (Skills / Qualifications):
Must Have Skills:
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar HR advisory role, preferably in a multinational or GCC environment.
- Strong knowledge of applicable labor laws, employee relations, governance and HR best practices.
- Knowledge of program management, change management and implementing planning capability to effectively deliver HR solutions to the assigned client groups.
- Experience in managing complex employee relations cases and HR program execution.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, high-growth environment with flexibility and resilience.
- Business acumen and understanding of the assigned client groups including their culture, their products, services and HR requirements.
- Consulting skills and ability to persuade / influence business leaders on suggested action for turning business issues / problems into viable HR / Business solutions.
- Problem solving skills, ability to determine root cause of complex issues and arrive at sound HR / Business solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience working with enterprise HR programs and collaborating with global teams is an asset.
