Job Description

Role Summary

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving revenue growth from Private Equity (PE) and Venture Capital (VC) fund managers by identifying, originating, and converting opportunities across Audit, Tax, Regulatory, and Advisory service lines. The role requires strong industry knowledge, relationship-building capabilities, and strategic sales skills within the alternative investment ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

1. Market Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and approach domestic and international PE/VC firms for audit, tax, valuation, transaction advisory, fund structuring, and compliance services.
  • Build a robust pipeline of prospects and track opportunities through CRM systems.
  • Lead client pitches, RFP responses, and proposal development in collaboration with service line leaders.


2. Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships at the Fund with:
  • Fund Managers
  • General Partners (GPs)
  • CFOs / Finance Heads
  • Compliance Officers
  • Make inroads into the portfolio companies of the Funds and cover them and originate leads across all services
  • Act as a single point of contact to coordinate cross-functional service delivery within the firm.
  • Strengthen relationships with ecosystem participants (investment banks, law firms, fund administrators, industry associations).


3. Cross-Selling & Revenue Expansion

  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across:
  • Statutory Audit
  • Tax Advisory & Compliance
  • Transaction Advisory
  • Valuation Services
  • Regulatory & Risk Advisory
  • Fund Structuring & International Tax
  • Work closely with Partners to design bundled solutions for fund managers and portfolio companies.

4. Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Track industry trends, regulatory changes, fundraising activity, and new fund launches.
  • Map active PE/VC funds and emerging managers in the region.
  • Monitor competitor positioning and pricing strategies.
  • Provide strategic insights to leadership on growth opportunities in the PE/VC space.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Revenue generated from PE/VC segment
  • Number of new fund mandates acquired
  • Cross-selling ratio across service lines
  • Size and quality of sales pipeline
  • Conversion rate of proposals
  • Strategic relationships established


Required Qualifications & Experience

Around 10 years of experience in:

  • Business development within a professional services firm, OR
  • Relationship management in financial services, PE/VC, investment banking, or fund administration

Strong understanding of:

  • Fund structures (AIF, LLP, Trust structures, offshore funds)
  • PE/VC lifecycle (fundraising, deployment, exit)
  • Regulatory framework applicable to funds


Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Existing network within PE/VC ecosystem
  • Experience working with alternative investment funds
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization with multiple service lines
