Job Description

The Director Commerce will serve as the functional lead for North India, representing Interactive Avenues Commerce practice in the region. This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, managing strategic client relationships, and leading a high-performing commerce team across marketplaces and quick-commerce platforms.

The role requires strong leadership across operations, partnerships, revenue growth, and cross-agency collaboration, ensuring the North office continues to operate as a strategic commerce hub for clients and partner agencies.


Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership & Representation

  • Serve as the North India functional head for Interactive Avenues Commerce practice.
  • Represent commerce capabilities for the agency across partner agencies, clients, and platform partners.
  • Collaborate with media leads across partner agencies to identify commerce-led growth opportunities for brands.

Operations & Delivery Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end commerce operations across marketplaces and quick-commerce platforms.
  • Ensure seamless execution across Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and other retail platforms.
  • Drive best practices across retail media planning, campaign execution, and marketplace optimization.

Client Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Lead senior client relationships and strategic engagements across key commerce accounts.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for major client issues or operational challenges.
  • Ensure delivery against business KPIs including GMV growth, share of search, and marketplace performance.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing commerce team across strategy, operations, and performance marketing.
  • Drive team planning, resourcing strategy, and capability development for the North region.
  • Build a culture of ownership, innovation, and operational excellence.

Retail & Platform Partnerships

  • Develop strong relationships with Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and other retail partners.
  • Identify and unlock platform partnerships, beta opportunities, and joint growth initiatives.

Crisis Management & Escalations

  • Handle critical situations including campaign disruptions, platform escalations, or operational risks.
  • Coordinate across internal teams and platform partners to ensure quick and effective resolution.

P&L & Commercial Management

  • Manage commerce business performance and profitability for the North region.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation, cost control, and commercial discipline across accounts.

New Business & Growth

  • Support new business development, pitches, and strategic proposals.
  • Identify opportunities to expand commerce mandates across existing and new clients.
  • Contribute to thought leadership in retail media and quick commerce ecosystems.


Key Skills & Experience

  • 1015+ years experience in E-commerce, Retail Media, or Marketplace Strategy
  • Strong expertise across Amazon, Flipkart, and Quick Commerce ecosystems
  • Proven leadership experience managing large teams and high-value commerce accounts
  • Strong understanding of GMV growth levers, marketplace algorithms, and retail media planning
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-agency collaboration skills
