About the Role
The role will define and lead scalable, cloud-based data architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, and real-time pipelines. Responsibilities
- The Director will oversee end-to-end development of high-performance data pipelines using SQL, Python, PySpark, and ETL/ELT frameworks, while driving automation, CI/CD practices, reusable components, and engineering best practices.
- The role also ensures reliable data ingestion from policy administration systems, claims platforms, CRM systems, TPAs, reinsurers, and external data providers.
- The Director will implement enterprise-wide data governance, metadata management, master data management, and data lineage standards, and establish robust data quality frameworks to meet regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Close collaboration with Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams is required to ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations, privacy laws, and security guidelines.
Qualifications
- The role requires strong understanding of P&C insurance and Lloyds market operations, including delegated authority bordereaux, premium, claims, exposure, broker, and coverholder data.
- The Director will guide data modelling for underwriting, pricing, claims, renewals, actuarial models, and regulatory reporting, and support analytics use cases such as fraud detection, lapse prediction, risk scoring, and customer segmentation.
Required Skills
- The ideal candidate will have more than 14 years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Management, including at least 5 years in leadership roles, with strong experience in the Lloyds Market or UK Insurance domain.
- Experience working with Lloyds syndicates, MGAs, brokers, or P&C insurers is essential.
- Hands-on expertise in SQL, Python, PySpark, APIs, and cloud data platforms is required, along with deep knowledge of Azure Data Services, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, Kafka, or similar technologies.
- Strong capabilities in data governance, regulatory reporting, enterprise data ecosystems, team leadership, budget management, and stakeholder communication are critical for success in this role.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
