Job Description
The Director Academic & Student Affairs for the School of Technology will be a transformational academic leader responsible for advancing academic quality, student success, and holistic development across undergraduate and graduate technology programs. This role demands strategic vision, operational excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep commitment to academic innovation, industry engagement, and student experience.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Governance
- Partner with the Dean to define and execute academic strategy for the School of Technology.
- Lead curriculum design and continuous enhancement based on global standards, emerging technologies, and industry needs (AI, cybersecurity, data science, IoT, software systems, sustainable technology, etc.).
- Ensure academic policies, assessment practices, and learning outcomes meet accreditation and quality benchmarking.
Faculty Development & Scholarship
- Drive faculty recruitment, performance evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.
- Facilitate faculty research support, collaborative projects, grant acquisition, and high-impact publications.
- Promote a culture of pedagogical innovation and evidence-based teaching excellence.
Student Experience & Success
- Oversee student advisement, retention strategies, academic integrity, and career readiness initiatives.
- Collaborate with placement teams and industry partners to enhance internships, co-ops, and experiential opportunities.
- Champion student wellbeing, inclusivity, and leadership development.
Operational Excellence
- Lead academic scheduling, program delivery, and examination processes with rigor and equity.
- Leverage analytics to drive data-informed decisions on academic performance, progression, and institutional outcomes.
- Ensure seamless coordination with central academic services (registrar, student affairs, quality assurance).
External Partnerships & Reputation
- Build strategic linkages with peer universities, research labs, industry consortia, and professional bodies.
- Represent the School at academic forums, conferences, and global collaborations.
- Support industry-academia projects, funding proposals, and technology transfer initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology Management, or related discipline from a top-ranked institution.
- Minimum 12+ years of progressive academic leadership experience, including faculty roles, program direction, or academic administration.
- Demonstrated track record of academic innovation, research excellence, faculty mentorship, and student engagement.
- Global outlook, strong industry network, and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Excellent communicator, consensus builder, and strategic thinker.
