Position Summary...
The Director External Communications will lead the strategy and execution of all external communications and reputation-building initiatives for Walmart Global Tech in India.This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing public relations, media engagement, digital reputation, and external storytelling that positions Walmart Global Tech as a leading global technology organization and an innovation hub within the external ecosystem of our stakeholders.
The role requires a strategic communicator who can build trusted relationships with senior leaders, manage multiple external partners, and proactively shape narratives in the media and digital space to enhance Walmart’s corporate reputation.
What you'll do...
As Director External Communications, you’ll be the strategic voice of Walmart India shaping how the world sees and experiences our story. You’ll drive our external narrative showcasing our innovation, leadership, and impact. You’ll lead all aspects of external communications, including media relations, thought leadership, reputation management, and digital storytelling.

The Corporate Communications team at Walmart Global Tech is the voice of the company. We tell WGT’s story from innovations, business growth to purpose and impact through clear, consistent, and authentic communication.
We manage reputation, stakeholder bonding with both internal and external storytelling, and leadership visibility to ensure Walmart is trusted and admired by associates, customers, and partners alike.
What You’ll Do
Reputation & Strategic Communications
Develop and lead Walmart Global Tech India’s external communications strategy to strengthen our corporate and technology reputation.
Drive proactive storytelling that highlights the organization’s technology innovation, leadership impact, and contribution to Walmart’s global business.
Anticipate and manage reputational risks
PR & Media Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with business, technology, and trade media.
Shape and deliver strategic media engagement plans for product innovation, leadership visibility, and corporate initiatives.
Lead Walmart Global Tech India’s PR agency partners to ensure high-quality, consistent, and timely communication across channels.
Thought Leadership & Executive Visibility
Develop and manage visibility program that positions Walmart Global Tech leaders as industry thought leaders.
Identify speaking, panel, and award opportunities aligned with Walmart’s strategic priorities.
Partner with global communications to align leadership narratives and global storytelling.
Digital & Social Reputation
Oversee external digital storytelling across owned and partner channels to reinforce our reputation as a people led, tech driven organization.
Guide digital agencies in developing high-impact content that drives engagement with key audiences — media, industry, policymakers, and talent.
Use analytics and insights to measure and optimize communications outcomes.
Agency & Partner Management
Lead relationships with PR and digital partners, ensuring alignment with global communications priorities and Walmart’s brand tone.
Oversee budget and performance management for all external communications initiatives.
What You’ll bring

18-22 years of progressive experience in external communications, corporate reputation, or public affairs.
Demonstrated success in building and protecting corporate reputation in complex, global organizations — preferably in the technology or digital innovation space.
Proven experience managing PR agencies and digital communication partners.
Strong understanding of media landscapes, reputation risk, and corporate storytelling.
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience working within global matrix organizations and managing executive stakeholders.
