Diagnostics Engineer – UDS / OBD

We are looking for an experienced Diagnostics Engineer with deep expertise in Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Location: Bengaluru/Hyderabad/Pune

Position Type: Contract

Experience: 5-11 years of relevant experience required Prior VW / Cariad exposure is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement diagnostic communication stacks for automotive ECUs
• Develop and validate diagnostic specifications, DTCs, and service routines
• Perform ECU flashing and reprogramming using diagnostic tools
• Analyze CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication for diagnostics
• Collaborate with software and hardware teams for feature integration
• Ensure compliance with ISO 14229 (UDS), ISO 15765 (CAN), SAE J1979 (OBD-II)
• Support vehicle-level testing using tools like CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.
• Prepare diagnostic documentation and test reports
• Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus

Must-Have Skills

• Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics / Automotive Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive diagnostics development
• Strong expertise in UDS (ISO 14229) and OBD-II
• Hands-on experience with diagnostic & authoring tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy)
• Knowledge of DTC management, fault handling, and ECU flashing
• Programming skills in C, Python, or scripting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
