Job Description

DGM HR Operations & HR Technology (Min 15 years of experience + MBA in HR)

Location: Mumbai (Goregaon East)

Reporting To: CHRO

Coverage: Waaree Energies & All Group Companies of Waaree

Incumbent with GCC expertise will be preferred


Role Purpose


The Head HR Operations & HR Technology will lead and own the entire HR operations, payroll, HR technology, and employee lifecycle management for Waaree Group. This role is critical in ensuring accuracy, compliance, scalability, and operational excellence across payroll, benefits, HR systems, policies, audits, and employee transactions for a large and growing workforce.

The incumbent will manage multiple teams, interface directly with senior stakeholders (CFO, Finance Controller, CHRO), and ensure seamless HR service delivery across locations and group entities with a Get-It-Done mindset, high ownership, and calm leadership style.


Key Responsibilities

1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Own end-to-end HR operations across the employee lifecycle: onboarding, documentation, confirmation, transfers, role changes, separations, and exit management.
  • Ensure standardized, compliant, and efficient HR processes across all group companies.
  • Manage HR operations for both local and remote teams, ensuring consistency and responsiveness.
  • Drive process improvement, automation, and simplification initiatives to improve employee experience.

2. Payroll, Compensation & Benefits Management

  • Lead end-to-end payroll operations for large workforce (30004000+ employees), ensuring 100% accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
  • Variable pay computation linked to performance ratings
  • Annual salary increments & revision cycles
  • Sales incentive calculations & disbursements
  • Pro-rata salary calculations, arrears processing, and adjustments
  • Ensure seamless coordination between HR, Finance, and payroll vendors.
  • Manage salary taxation, TDS, Form 16, and employee tax queries.

3. Statutory Compliance, Audits & Retiral Benefits

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements: PF, Gratuity, ESIC, PT, LWF, etc.
  • Act as the primary HR SPOC for:
  • Statutory audits
  • Concurrent audits
  • Internal audits
  • Coordinate with retiral benefit consultants for PF, Gratuity, Superannuation, etc.
  • Ensure accurate data, documentation, and timely closure of audit observations.

4. HR Technology & Systems (SAP / SuccessFactors)

  • Own and drive HR technology landscape including:
  • SAP HCM
  • SuccessFactors modules (Employee Central, Performance, Compensation, etc.)
  • Ensure system accuracy, data integrity, integrations, and user adoption.
  • Partner with IT and external vendors for:
  • Enhancements
  • New module implementations
  • Automation initiatives
  • Translate HR process needs into system requirements and configurations.

5. Policies, Governance & Documentation

  • Draft, review, implement, and continuously improve:
  • HR policies
  • Employee handbook
  • Process guidelines & SOPs
  • Ensure all policies are legally compliant, business-aligned, and consistently applied across group companies.
  • Provide expert guidance on policy interpretation and application in complex employee cases.

6. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and manage three distinct teams:
  1. Payroll & Reimbursements Team
  2. HR Technology Team
  3. HR Operations & Onboarding Team
  • Set clear KRAs, review performance, coach team members, and build strong second-line leadership.
  • Create a culture of ownership, accuracy, service orientation, and continuous improvement.

7. Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership

  • Act as a trusted partner to:
  • CHRO
  • CFO
  • Finance Controller
  • Business Heads
  • Provide timely, accurate data and insights for decision-making.
  • Handle sensitive employee matters with maturity, discretion, and balance.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance on payroll controls, provisions, and reconciliations.

Qualification & Experience

  • MBA in HR / Post Graduate in HR (Mandatory)
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in HR Operations, Payroll, and HR Technology
  • Must have handled large organisations (30004000+ employees) with multi-location presence
  • Prior experience in manufacturing / infrastructure / large corporate environments preferred
