Job Description:  Lead DevOps Engineer

Who we are looking for

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, the candidate will play a role in GTS Integration Services team. The candidate must have 12+ years of experience in handling DevOps activities for various projects, in either Azure, or in AWS or in both. 

Candidate will be providing continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment and should have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers. The Lead DevOps Engineer will establish and employ Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins or other CI tools. Experience in configuration management automation tools such as Puppet (or other such tools) in creating continuous delivery systems is also required.

Candidate should also have expertise in DevOps in on-prem systems using tradition tools like Jenkins.  The successful candidate must be effective at managing multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities and be capable of meeting deadlines. The role expects strong experience in software deployment and automation practices, along with provisioning of infrastructure using automated tools, such as Terraform.  Experience leading a team and mentoring them to do multiple tasks is also required.  Candidate should have complete handle on the projects and be able to work independently.

A very well tech-savvy, self-driven person with strong experience in Azure/AWS DevOps implementations, would be good fit for this position.

As Lead DevOps engineer, you will:

• Demonstrate complete hands-on experience in creating pipelines
• Demonstrate and help team implement appropriate branching strategy
• Implement CI/CD and create a process and democratize the same among team members
• Ensure other team members implement and follow the process across projects
• Formulate and implement approach to DevSecOps
• Have toll-gates based on code coverage etc. and implement proper approval workflow
• Have auto-deployment of software based on GitHub Actions OR similar items in
• Have ability to lead and deliver in a very fast paced environment.
• Be responsible for bringing innovation in product and process.
• Encourage and drive collaboration between teams across organization by eliminating frictions.

These skills will help you succeed in this role with MUST and NICE to have skills:

• Must have strong experience in branching/merging strategy.  Should recommend and implement a suitable strategy for each project.
• Must have implementation experience of building code pipelines in AWS or Azure
• Must be familiar with a broad portfolio of AWS and Azure infrastructure tools experience with cloud infrastructure management and automation technologies (Chef, Puppet or Terraform)
• Must have 12+ years of overall experience in configuration management, with at least 8+ years as DevOps engineer
• Must have thorough understanding and implementation experience of various branching strategies
• Must have experience creating code pipelines and continuous integration using “Git Actions” OR equivalent events
• Must be able to write Terraform (OR equivalent) IaC code and implement the same for environment provisioning
• Must have exposure on ELK framework, Splunk etc.
• Must have hands-on experience in continuous services like eg: Code Deploy, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, Bamboo, Azure DevOps and other CI/CD tools and Artifactory i.e Jfrog and Nexus
• Must have experience monitoring infrastructure using various tools like Elastic stack, Prometheus, Grafana, CheckMK, agios, Fluentbit, Fluentd, Calico
• Must have experience in using Helm charts for deploying applications in Kubernetes
• Must have strong communications skills and ability to collaborate with people from across the geography.
• Good to have experience in writing shell scripts.
• Good to have experience in identifying and implementing cost saving strategies
• Good to have experience in optimizing infrastructure solutions 

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum 12+ years’ experience in IT industry
• Minimum 8 years in implementing DevOps for various projects.
• Any certification in AWS/Azure will be a plus
