Development Lead - Camunda

Job Title: Dev Lead

The Dev Lead Camunda will be responsible for leading workflow automation and process orchestration initiatives using Camunda BPM and Java-based technologies. This role requires strong technical leadership to guide a team of engineers in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and reliable business process solutions. The candidate will collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into robust technical implementations while driving best practices, platform optimization, and continuous improvement across the workflow automation ecosystem.

II. Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical direction and professional development support.

Architect and implement business process solutions using Camunda Platform (BPM, DMN, CMMN)

. Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java and Spring Boot integrated with Camunda workflows

Drive best practices for process modeling, workflow design, and task orchestration.

Build and enhance RESTful APIs for process orchestration and integration with databases and external services.

Conduct code reviews, define coding standards, and ensure consistent code quality across the team.

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.

Optimize process execution performance, reliability, and system observability.

Work with DevOps teams to deploy and monitor Camunda services using CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Evaluate and recommend architectural improvements to the workflow automation platform.

Stay current with Camunda platform updates, Java ecosystem advancements, and industry best practices.

III. Years of Experience:

710 years of experience in backend development with strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot

. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Camunda Platform (Camunda 7 or Camunda 8).

2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or lead developer role.

IV. Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional):

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Relevant certifications in Java, BPM, or cloud platforms are an added advantage.

V. Skill Set Required: Must Have:

Strong hands-on experience with Java (8+) and Spring Boot.

Proven expertise in Camunda Platform (BPMN 2.0, DMN, CMMN).

Strong understanding of workflow automation and process driven application design.

Experience designing and implementing RESTful services and microservices architectures.

Solid knowledge of system design, design patterns, and clean code principles.

Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito and exposure to TDD practices.

Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have:

Experience with event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.

Familiarity with Camunda Optimize for process analytics and monitoring.

Exposure to integration frameworks such as Apache Camel.

Knowledge of security best practices including OAuth2 and JWT.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
