Design Manager

About the Role

Infiniti Building Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Design Manager Fire & Life Safety Systems to lead complete design lifecycle activities from concept design through IFC drawings, shop drawings, execution documentation, and final handover . The role requires strong coordination with PMC, MEP consultants, architects, and project teams , ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership

• Lead end-to-end design development for:
• Fire Sprinkler Systems
• Fire Hydrant & Hose Reel Systems
• Fire Alarm Systems (FAS)
• Public Address / Voice Evacuation Systems
• VESDA / Aspirating Smoke Detection Systems
• Gas Suppression Systems (FM-200, NOVEC, Inert Gas, CO)
• Pre-Action & Deluge Systems
• Water Leak Detection (WLD) Systems
• Rodent Repellent Systems
• Own the complete design lifecycle:
• Concept Design
• Schematic Design
• Detailed Design / IFC
• Shop Drawings
• As-Built Drawings & Handover Documentation

Engineering & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with:
• NFPA standards
• NBC of India
• IS / TAC
• UL / FM guidelines
• Local fire authority norms
• Prepare design calculations , hydraulic calculations, battery calculations, and cause & effect matrices.
• Review specifications, BOQs, and value engineering proposals.

Execution Support & Documentation

• Prepare execution-ready documentation , including:
• Detailed layouts
• Riser diagrams
• Zoning drawings
• Equipment schedules
• Method statements
• Provide technical support during execution, addressing site queries and design clarifications.
• Review redlines and ensure accurate as-built documentation .

Stakeholder Coordination

• Interface closely with:
• PMC teams
• MEP consultants
• Architects & structural consultants
• Client technical teams
• Attend design review meetings, coordination meetings, and authority discussions.
• Incorporate consultant comments and manage design revisions.

System Integration & Interface Management

• Ensure seamless integration between:
• Fire Alarm & Fire Fighting Systems
• PA / Voice Evacuation systems
• BMS, IBMS, Access Control & HVAC interfaces
• Coordinate cause-and-effect logic across multiple life safety systems.

Team & Quality Management

• Guide and review work of design engineers and CAD/BIM teams.
• Establish design standards, templates, and best practices.
• Ensure timely delivery of drawings as per project schedules.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• B.Tech / BE in:
• Mechanical Engineering (preferred for Fire Fighting)
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Diploma with strong experience may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Experience

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in:
• Fire & Life Safety System Integration companies , or
• Fire Consulting / MEP Consulting firms
• Proven experience handling projects from concept to handover .
• Strong exposure to commercial buildings, IT parks, data centers, hospitals, and critical infrastructure .

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of fire codes and life safety standards
• Expertise in AutoCAD (Revit/BIM exposure preferred)
• Excellent coordination and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong documentation and presentation capabilities
• Client-facing and consultant-handling experience

Preferred Exposure

• Fitouts, Health care, Industrial projects
• Authority approvals and fire NOC processes
• BIM-based coordination (added advantage)
